Whitlocks if he wants something front weighted. Target lewis's or chizzys if he wants something straight

Have a look at Dennis Priestley's for the front weighted option Smile

for £30 you have a large range of darts to work with. Does he have an idea of the weight he likes or the type of grip (knurled, razor, smooth, etc.)? I promote McCoy especially to people experimenting because they make a good dart at a good price. You can buy them from Pure Darts They don't match up to a Target dart but they will give him the ability to try 2-3 different sets for the cost of one. I personally use McCoys and love them. I have tried other darts and liked them as well but the McCoys take the cake.

I have to agree with Lefty on this one. McCoy's for the money is a fine choice because you get value plus a dart that is well made IMO here's the site of pure darts http://www.puredarts.co.uk/ . Good luck to your brother in-law.

Priestlys are nice but not everyone can get used to the slightly bulbous grip, Whitlocks sound a better bet or Mick Mcgowans which have a gentle taper.

Klassens are not very straight though, those type of darts have a unique bulbous grip, so its a case of trying and seeing if you like them

first ones to come to my mind have already been mentioned. (priestley, lewis, chizzy)

i also like the look of the stompe's and the phantom grip barney's. they are both sets that are high up on my growing wishlist.

If I was him, I would go to a shop or a league. It might be easier if he could experiment with different barrels to narrow it down a bit. Buying online as everyone here has done is always a hit and miss prospect at best. Even when going by what a barrel measures online, once in your hand doesn't always meet expectations. Just my two cents (or pence for my friends across the pond lol).

Good luck to him on his quest!!! There are two types of dart players..the one who has THEIR dart and those who want THE dart!!!

You can quote me on that.

lol!

Canuck makes a very good point. Going to a shop to test some darts out will give him a feel for what he likes.

I've used the 23g Klaasens since 2009 and After hitting 779 180's with them, I think I made the right choice.
It's very similar to the Priestleys but with slight modifications to the grip and barrel.
The grip is unique and very good in my point of view.
However, I am looking to replace them with a brand new set, as after awhile the diamond shaped bits have worn down significantly.

But I do agree with Canuck and Lefty.
You really should give them a good test first.

Yeah, I've tried to record every shot since getting my first one in mid 2008.
I remember my first 180 well, as at the time I was on a tropical Island, off the Queensland coast.
And from then I decided to keep a tally.
I'll have to post the excel sheet at some point.
