| Its very interesting info Mark, Taylor has changed the way he angles his darts over the years though, he used to start with the flight pointing up, now I think he has it more or less parallel to the floor.
I am not sure that if we tried to copy exactly what Taylor does it would makes us play better, its all about finding what is right for yourself, but there is no harm in taking pointers from the pros way of doing it. I think Taylor has worked incredibly hard to perfect his technique, I am not sure how much of his throw is learned and how much is natural, I find it hard to believe that what we see in the above clip is Taylors completely natural throw, it looks too machine/robotic like to me. |

Good analysis. I agree that each one has his own throwing style/form and it doesn't follow that if one copies a pro's style, he will perform as well. A darter's style or form is an interesting subject for me. I admire a player's smooth throwing action, speed of throw, or sometimes the accuracy despite the unorthodox throwing mechanics. But ultimately, like what you said, Grip, one has to discover/develop his or her form. Cheers! |

| Not a must see video IMO. Go ahead and try to replicate his throw and see how awful you are |

| Even if I tried, I wouldn't be able to replicate his throw. I'm already awful with my own throw! |

Well I watch it and try to emulate the arm extension , focus. I already stand sideways to the oche and I have a pencil grip. Try to emulate his throw in some ways. Like anything else in life pick what works for you and discard the rest. Taylor draws his dart closer to his left because hes left eye dominant. I wouldn't try emulating say CO-Stompe though it works for him. I like Andy Hamiltons mechanics, different and works for him and so on. Phils mechanics are perfect for him as proven by his bank account lol. Of course in the end its your own personal preference right.? Hell I watch the good shooters in the league ! all have 2 things in common I have noticed, arm extension and focus. |

Disagree there "Grasshopper" A chance to see the greatest dart player of all time in slow motion and the way he does it is a treat to me. Now take that Grasshopper to the bank. |

| To be perfectly honest with you I think everything about his throw is wrong. He is quite short so has to throw upwards, his grip looks all wrong, and he aims with the wrong eye. His follow through is good. So I think it is more amazing that he has been so successful over the years. But as everyone has said, throw in a way that is right for you and he certainly does!! Barney, Hankey, Rees, Lowe, now those throws were/are a thing of beauty. |

| Phil is left eye dominant so that explains that. , His concentration , release and extension are perfect IMO. |
