I have been a light dart man my whole life. Heaviest set I have owned is 21g. I have only recently changed from those ones.

My reason for changing was not the weight of the dart, but the shape. My 21g darts were similar to Lowe's, just a bit longer. I prefer a skinny dart.

Just found a nice heavy dart they are fitted with storm points and cosmo flights & stems, plus they feel really grippy. Bit wide though I think they will cover the triple's and I think my arm will get a bit tired after prolonged use. Maybe right arm will get bigger after a month or 2 aswell. lol on floor

light darts have less inertia, with a heavier dart if you line it up on the path it tends to flow a bit smoother. but it all depends on the thrower. my teammate has a set of 34g and 48g darts we like to play around with, its a world of difference

Yes you do, I find that using 2 hand helps alot. If throwing 1 handed I use a wider grip.
Warning it is not recomended to place fingers in holes when throwing these cry laugh

on a serious note I stumbled across a website that has lots of interesting advice and thoughts. Been lost in there for hours, they have a couple or online books (150-190 pages each) and some handy dare I say it printable pegout charts.
One of the books simply had this to say about dart weight (was expecting a little more.

"DART WEIGHT: As a rule, men should use a
lighter dart than women do. A dart cannot reach its
best arc using excess muscle. Women throw easily,
using more finesse. A slower dart loses energy
sooner, often dipping before striking the board. This is
why women lob.
Ideally, men should slow their arm speed, and use
more finesse. A man’s physique provides power to
burn. He must learn control. She throws darts
correctly, but needs extra weight to reduce lobbing.
Adjusting, by throwing harder, hurts her fine touch.
She should use a heavier dart to stay on course.

Dave Kender Jim Kender".

I THINK HE IS SAYING I THROW LIKE A GIRL!!!! lol!

This is a pretty interesting thread, lots to think about for sure. Being a self confessed dartaholic - buying, trading selling, swapping etc etc, I've had too many sets in the last few years to talk about. I've had sets in 22 grams up to 26 grams but lately I've come to the conclusion that a 24 gram is a good weight - I just got a set of Bottelsen Megathrusts and think I am going to stick with them for a while. That being said, I do have a brass set in 17 grams that I take out every once in a while and do pretty well with them. I find when I throw a light dart for any length of time, my shoulder gets pretty sore though. Not sure why.
