| They look similar to the phase 6's that he didn't like to me. They also look like lots of people will be paying around £70 for these just because they think it will make them play like Taylor |

| He should stick to the phase 5, obviously another marketing ploy.

I never got a set of P6's, how similar are they to the new ones, at a guess I would say they look very similar except the new ones have 3 grooves on the front end of the barrel. |

| the purist grip is different on these (back to groups of 2 rings instead of the three rings on the phase 6s) and is moved forward. the grip on the phase 6s is further back while the grip on the phase 7s is in the middle. |

| I meant he should stick to Phase 5, I was typing on me phone before but edited my above post now.
He still played well with them but he could probably play with any darts just as well. |

| Look more like sigmas than p6's if you ask me. Either way he didn't like either set, why change? If it ain't broke don't fix it |

| I think he changes because he is a perfectionist and although he is getting no younger, I think that he still thinks that he can improve.
I think that is why he is so much better than all of the others. If you look at Mervyn King for example, he has used the same shaped barrels forever. He is a great player no doubt, but could he be better with different equipment, who knows, and I doubt we will ever find out.
I spoke with Tony O'Shea once about his darts, he always uses the same set (Old set of Bristows that he has had for donkeys years), and probably always will. He does not use the Target darts (in matchplay anyway), and told me he didn't know what he would do if he lost his original set - I think it is psychological really but does make sense.
Some players probably fear change, however, Taylor is not afraid to make significant changes and that is why he is so good.
None of us can resist either. It is different for us because technically speaking we have nothing to lose, but we all do it. I have a new set of darts sitting on my desk right now. I bought them because I thought - they look like they could be the answer to my prayers and the darts that will change my life.
Oh and as well, Unicorn can probably make a fortune out of them lol!! |

He still played well with them but he could probably play with any darts just as well. Agree, that the Phase 5 is his best dart, having won a lot of tourneys with them.. He can use any dart and still win. I can understand his willingness to try other darts, in order to win. But there's no denying Unicorn will be earning a lot with another Phase dart - just like Nike became a massive brand with the different Jordan models. I believe sticking to one dart will help one master the more important part of darting which is the form. To quote Bruce Lee, "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once but I fear the man who had practiced one kick 10,000 times." But to be honest, I wouldn't mind getting a set of P7 if I had the money! |

| Good points Danny and Mark, I agree that Taylor is always striving for that tiny little bit of extra improvement, which is amazing really, so he will always want to try a new dart or a new flight and has to test it in a comp to see how he gets on, but still think its another cash cow for Unicorn. And I like the Bruce Lee quote Mark, cant beat a bit of Bruce Lee! |

Right on all points I think, Bacon. Same accessment I have comparing them to my 6s. Along with the 7s having the grooves on the nose, the nose also looks to be a bit less tapered. Closer in diameter to the 5s. Amazing phenomenon that Taylor seems to be the only player looked down upon for making money when people choose to buy his darts. And they're the only darts purchased by silly people looking to emulate a professional dart player. |

| I can only assume unicorn arent selling many darts now as this whole phase 7 thing is looking more and more like a marketing ploy. Phil used them for one game and decided that he doesn't like them. Can guarantee they'll still sell for around £70 a set.... |

| I was surprised he used them for 2 matches though, but I do think its probably a marketing ploy. |

He has said in an interview that the phase 7s are the best darts he's ever used and he just needs more practice with them. I wouldnt be surprised if we see them again! |
