think they are interesting, but again I think they are developed mainly for soft tip which seems to be where all these new ideas are coming from.

what are those little spikes for near where the base of the flight will be?

There's a video in the link Darren posted above - basically it's for added protection for the flight

I think there is already some stems that have that little bit at the bottom, not sure if it was some of the Laro stems, cant remember now.
