Spinning the dart Empty
PostSubject: Spinning the dart   Spinning the dart EmptyMon Jun 18, 2012 6:52 am

I think we have all noticed players like Lewis and King that spin the dart before throwing, kind of roll it one way on the draw back and back the other on their throw - I always thought - How do they do this and still remain so accurate.

Well I have been trying it and it seems to work!

I have no idea how but my initial theory is that after rolling I seem to have a really relaxed grip on the dart, something I struggle to replicate without the spin.
The darts seems to sit between the tip of my thumb and the top joint of my index finger, a very light grip too.

Does anyone do this as part of their regular throw and can it really benefit your game, it seems to take part of the conscious aiming of the dart away as during the roll the aiming seems to become subconscious if that makes sense.

Maybe a natural 'spinner' could elaborate of this unique style.

Regards,
Greg

Never really thought about it before but just had a couple of quick throws - I spin the dart a little on the drawback - don't know how it happens, it's just something I've always done lol

I dont spin the dart on the draw back, but i've always spun on release, just a natural thing i think.

I have noticed my darts sometimes spin when thrown, but I have never deliberately spun it in my fingers before throwing it, I wonder if the player you mention do it deliberately or if its just the way they always did it?

Next time you watch Lewis, King, Anderson, they all spin the darts, Lewis doesn't even seem to aim like King and Anderson do, but 2 x WC he must do.

i spin it before i even start the throw. transfer, relax, spin, backswing. purely to navigate the grip.

I spin the dart when I release it. Not on purpose, it's just part of my natural throw.

I might try spinning round myself then throw the dart, I might get dizzy but I'm sure to have more success!
