R.A.F. Spinning Darts?

Got these a while ago, they have have unusual paper flights that spin when the dart is thrown. Never seen them before, it says R.A.F. on the flights and Patent Applied For.

Nice find, Very distinctive heart shaped flights look similar to Dorwin flights and yet different

Yeah I am more curious about the R.A.F. connection, wonder if someone in the Royal Air Force designed them?

I like how you are supposed to bend the top of the flight. It would give it a torpedo propeller effect.

Not sure what age they are but would imagine they were 1950's at the latest, but just shows that people were being very inventive even then, there are modern ones available which have a similar shape but four fins:
