| At the start of the year I set myself 4 targets for this year:
1 - to hit at least one 180 in a competitive match 2 - to hit a 3 figure checkout in a competitive match 3 - to hit 200 180's in the year - I increased this to 250, and recently upped it again to 400 and 4 - to continue to enjoy myself at matches
No 1 I did at a tournament in February and no 4 is an ongoing thing (and the reason I chose my new team for next season, although I do like the other team that wanted me), and no 2 I completed last night.
I played in my league's open singles and got to the third round (should have won that round as well, but that's another story lol). In the second round I won the match 2-0 and had two nice 2 dart finishes - 85 (T19, D14) in the first leg and 100 (T20, D20) in the second leg.
So 3 out of 4 goals completed so far, and no 3 is well on the way with just over half way there already.
Well pleased with the way the year is going so far. |

| MC1958 your one great player my friend and those lofty goals are admirable. I think # 4 the most important but like me # 4 depends on the other three if ya know what I mean. I'm very competitive and take a loss personal ( that's just me personality ) When I lose I shake the other guys hand and say good game but am seething inside because of my competitive spirit. I usually play players half my age with better eyesight and most cases been playing steel longer than me. My solution has and always will be to outwork the other guy. But I have to admit that in 1 1/2 years I have had some team and personal success 1 team Championship, 3 team MVP's and 1 Top league shooter. Not too bad for a guy closer to 70 than 60. You at age 53 have great skills from what I have read. I haven't hit a 180 in league and to be honest am having mental problems with that particular treble and don't know why (maybe you can point me in the right direction my friend.) My outs are pretty good but me scoring lately is well not good at all. I'm happy for you my friend and thanks for sharing with me and the other members. |

| great goals MC! i'm with ya on all of them but the 200/400 180s for the year haha. so far i've hit 2 competitive 180s (one in a darts ontario tournament and one in my league) and have hit a few competitive 3 figure checkouts. as for number 4, well i'm loving playing darts but i'm still quite new to the game. i just can't get over how friendly/hospitable dart players are, especially compared to my last hobby which was road cycling. i've got a few more goals to add to my list though. namely get my average sorted out and get it hovering around 20ppd. also to hit a sub 14 darter, had a shot at a 11 darter two weeks ago and couldnt hit my out. and lastly i want to hit a whitehorse in cricket, wired one on the weekend (T17 T19 and then hit T8). anyways MC let us know how you get on with them buddy! |

| Good post mc1958! Goal setting (and especially goal achieving) can have a positive effect on on your mental and emotional game. Glad you included #4 and I hope all dart throwers/shooters can list that one. I could borrow #1 and #2, but as for #3...ah...I might have to list 400 ton eighties as a lifetime achievement goal! |

| Thanks for the comments guys - I wouldn't go so far as great, but I do have my moments. I really need to work on my consistency, but as long as I win more that I lose I'm happy.
As for enjoying darts - if I ever stopped enjoying the game I would give it all up and get rid of all my gear lol.
Larry, I still get it when the first two go in the T20 in matches, but you've got to try and stop the adrenaline rush and throw it like you would normally. Keep your stance and dog hand and everything the same as how you threw the first two darts. As I say I suffer from this excitement myself all the time in matches - even at home at times lol. |
