| OK everyone, I hope you were following the tweets from yesterdays Masters competition in Shetland. I got a few pros following my tweets yesterday which was nice.
Anyway, having a few internet connection problems today so I'll give a brief report and try and post some pics.
The big four went through the quarter finals with Taylor beating Nicholson, easily and to be fair Paul didn't play that well, the game was quite flat and I think that going on first was not good for Paul. Both players got a really good welcome and Taylor having some fun with Crowd (this is important for later). Next up was Barney who played webster in a closer game, barney won it with average of over 100. that meant Barney v Taylor in Semi.
Hankey played Wade next and both players got a good welcome, again a very close game and probably the best of the quarter finals but wade won it. Then Whitlock v Henderson (the crowd favourite) Hendo played really well, but just was a bit hot and cold and the break came at the wrong time and whitlock went through to the semi against Wade.
Biggest match of the night after a 2 hour break was Barney Taylor. Taylor was in control for the first few legs and lead 7-5, but then Barney really stepped up to hit four legs on the trot with Taylor missing 6 darts at a double in one leg, he looked under pressure. Crowd really wanting the Dutchman to win...then the big controversy Taylor threw his first darts of the 17th leg and then turned and shook Barneys hand gave a little wave to the crowd and walked off and went straight out the building. Barney looked shocked and the crowd were not happy. Russ Bray called barney the winner. To be fair I reckon he was going to win anyway, but taylor unbeaten in Shetland in the previous masters just left the venue. The MC came on the stage and said that someone had been swearing at Taylor, but from wear I was the crowd was very fair. I spoke to one of the markers later and they said they had heard Taylor being swore at many times throughout the match. But I would have thought that a word with security and the Russ might have sorted it. There was no words of warning to crowd fromRuss and he looked shocked too. Anyway, Barney through to the final where he would play Whitlock. Who won an easy game against wade who only averaged 79 and looked really out of sorts, I do hope he is OK, because I felt he looked very unwell. Whitlock was a favourite of the crowd, but Barney in Scotland, there was only really one person the crowd wanted to win the final.
What a final we got, superb fighting darts from both players. So very impressed by them both. Either could win in Blackpool next week....certainly worth a bet on both. each player hot 170 checks in the final and I think there were 16 180s in final superb 130 from whitlock under pressure too. but Barney would win a brilliant final 13-10. If you read my tweets you will get an idea of the excitement of the event
I'll now try and post some pics

| I saw the tweets last night and want to say a big thank you to Andy for the updates. I noticed Steffi Luck and Devon Petersen followed the games. Apart from the idiot it sounded like a great night, and also good news that it is confirmed for another 5 years - hopefully the plonker didn't spoil it for Taylor coming back again next year to try to retain the trophy.
Big note to self - start saving for your fare and ticket now lol |

| [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The runner up with some idiot (me) who tweeted the action to the world). Whitlock is an all round great guy, he was well liked by crowd, unfortunate for him playing a scot and then Barney (an adopted Scot). Top bloke and I wish him well. I think he might just win in Blackpool. I'll be having a small wager on him. A great fighting spirit in the final and he looked like he loved Shetland... a plus in our book, hope he comes back next year. |

But he was really nice nothing like the stage persona...crowd liked him lots too. Hope to see you back north soon Paul |

| LOL Hankey is scared the camera takes his soul away! Great pics Andy, and your taller than all of them!!! I think you have the biggest smile with Taylor though, you look like you had a great time and what a final to see two of my most favourite players Barney and Whitlock )or is it Brett Lee with a beard??) Superb stuff! |

| Well Bov, I have to say that being in Canada I will most likely never get to see such a display or experience professional darts at that level live, so I am very very envious of you!!! I just want to thank you for sharing your experience with us!! It is very cool to hear what it is like to interact with players and find out what they are like to be around!!! Well done!! |
