| Minimize movement. Only the shooting arm moves. Your shoulder should stay completely still, as should the rest of your body. You’ll make the game easier by keeping as still as possible while throwing. A steady and controlled back swing is critical to accuracy. Very few people can throw accurately without a back swing. And one smooth and fluid motion to the board is critical. Try to minimize any side-to-side motion. |

| Has anyone experienced a sore shoulder after playing darts? Had to ice my shoulder last night after a couple of throws. I practice daily for a least an hour and a half, and it was the first time I had to stop. I try to minimize my movement especially with my shoulder. Any tips to avoid this? Thanks. |

I only keep my practice to about 30 mins a day due to mostly wrist aches but I have a shoulder issue thats a lot better than it used to be but now and then plays up, it still cracks and grinds a lot which is irritating. Can you tell where the pain is localised? does it feel like muscle soreness? if its just muscle soreness then it will must likely be a strain or fatigue, if it feels like a tendon or joint then you will need to rest it a while to avoid making it worse. Trying to work out what caused it is harder to know, but you will need to observe, if you can, at what point the pain occurs, could be that your throwing in a position thats slightly awkward or you may be overextending the shoulder. I would also try some warm up and stretching exercises before playing, and some cool down and stretching afterwards. |

| heres what works for me
ill throw for 5-10 minutes several times in the afternoon leading up to my regular 60-90 minute session at night.
Also what helped me most was pulling my darts from the board with my left hand (im a righty) hope these help. |

| thanks guys, currently it feels it's due to fatigue as some rest alleviates the pain. thanks for all the advice! will try to stretch and have the mini-throws before the long practice. |
