instead of pointing again, wouldn't he do himself better to close the 17's? if you are up and can take away a possible score isn't this productive?

That can be dangerous in soft tip. Depends on how much he was up. If the point score is close there would be NO way I'd take a chance on a hero dart and try to close. He could hit a 7 or 9 mark right behind me and I'd be toast.

^^^ Depends. That "1 to close" is also known as a "hero" dart. Sometimes you pay dearly for trying to be a hero.

the extra point (s) has more value than what could only be a single 17 or gulp a miss, correct?

What part of the video where you talking about? Give me the time of the video and I'll look.

Usually the points are more valuable when watching these guys go at it. Keep in mind, they are averaging over 6.00 mpr in cricket. When someone is playing that well staying up in points is a key factor.

Yes. Imagine averaging 6.00mpr like the winner of the 1st cricket game was doing. The point swing per round could be as much as 90 points. That would be 6 15's.

In steel tip cricket you might have a 50 point lead and think it's comfortable. In most cases it is. But in soft tip having a number closed and a 50 point lead isn't much at all. The opponent could pick a brand new number (say 16's) and hit a quick 7 mark. Now he has a number open on you and a 14 point lead after being down 50 points the turn before.

That's why it's SO important to carry a massive point lead in top level soft tip darts.

Got a question for you JD since I dont play soft tip. Granted they played a great game but why in the 701 game did they not throw at bull? Isn't the whole bull in soft tip 01 worth 50? If so then hitting that huge area is much easier than the treble.

That's really good considering the best Dartslive player in the world has a mid 5 mpr average.

If I had a 6.2 I would of went to Japan and cashed in on $130,000.

The Japan Pro Tour uses a "split bull". Meaning the Bullseye is worth the same as it is in steel tip. 25/50

I actually prefer watching the Pro Tour stuff as it most resembles steel tip. The only difference is the outs. The Pro Tour

still has "Master Out" which means you can finish on a triple, double, or bull.

I was shocked at that average and who knows it might not be right that's just what the paperwork said. Don't care if you don't believe me anyway!! I think the best player is above 5

I play my soft tip at home with split bull and double out to keep it like steel tip.

I play open in/ master out, and have to say if I miss the fat bull finish things get real (dicey) on my out shot. Doubles are not my friend.
