Another one of my most favorite sets of darts.

The 'Varriant' by Accudart.

As I'm sure you know (as I know a few of you own these) these are brilliant and a very unique set of darts which allow you to change the weight and balance of the darts by unscrewing them and placing the different weights on (the small rings/weights are the following materials - "Tungsten - Brass - Aluminum'.
There is over 300 combinations of weight and balance. (one of the photos has a picture of the 'weights chart')

I'm hanging on to them just now (but I'm just about to become a dad for the first time.... so the collection may have to go if money gets tight in the future) I would certainly give you guys first dibs on the collection as I would want them to go to people that appreciate them.

£7!!!! thats even more crazy!!! they have sold around the average of £50 although I got my set for about £18 which I thought was a bargain but £7!

I wonder if the guy who paid that much had been shill bidded?

I just checked his feedback and see that he has also bought a set for £35 I think.

It's hard to say, I have seen two people going after a set of Bristow darts before and the bidding went crazy (went for about £160) then a week later a set sold for £45 .... I think people get really carried away on Ebay, they get it in their head that they 'Must have' them no matter what the cost.
I'm a lot more carfeful these days, I try to only buy quality and for a price I think they are worth, if someone is willing to pay over the odds then they are welcome to them, there is 'normally' another set just around the corner with your name on.

Whilst on the subject of those Bristow ones, why on earth do they seem to attract so much attention ?!??! they are so common yet are always listed as 'rare'

Thats exactly what I always think!

There must be 1000's of Bristow cocked hand darts around, after all he was one of the most popular players so no doubt lots of his darts were bought. I think people have it in their head that they must be really rare so pay silly money for them.

Glad I'm not the only one then !

Back on the subject of 'Shill Bidding', you could well be right there, Looking at the person who bidded all the way (and then lost at the end) seems to have a history of bidding on items from the seller (which is always suspect), apparently 75% of their bidding history is with that specific seller ....

Well the buyer should have checked really, he has a feedback of 400+ so he should be aware of that thing going on.

I think it has happened to me a few times, and often they gone to far and I immediately got a 2nd chance offer.

I was looking at a newly listed set last night on Ebay and i see they are already bid quite high. Going to be a fun one to watch.

these are a superb idea , why don't they do stuff like this now .... oh cos it's all about selling more units rather than a quality item that will do someone for a long time .

great darts them

Cost a lot of money to make by all accounts.
I think due to the costs involved and the price they needed to charge to make a profit, it just wasn't worth it.

Real shame as they are really nice quality.
