Subject: Whitlock's flights (and everyone elses!) Fri Mar 01, 2013 9:01 am
Hello Darters...
This is my second post on here so forgive me if it's a) boring b) irrelevant c) been discussed before!
Watching Simon Whitlock just now, noticed his flights have a flag on them these days. I was just wondering what flag it was and what the relevance was...if anyone knows? Being Scottish, I like playing with the saltire, through habit I stick to them I think....Anyway, I was just wondering about Whitlocks choice!
Cheers

The flag is, as far as I am aware, St George's cross on a clear background.
No idea why he is using them, he has used them before - maybe he is part Greek/ English

Ah right...on the TV it looks blue (the background)...I was just wondering what it was. And I still am wondering if it is indeed the St. Georges haha...thanks

Maybe as a Scotsman I cannot comprehend why a non-Englishman would use such flights!! haha Anyway, enjoyed that game...when Barney is playing well it's a joy to watch

LOL yeah not sure why he has St George flights really, at first I thought maybe his girlfriend is English then I remembered his partner is Steffi Luck so its not that. Maybe he just likes them?

It probably is just a simple case of liking them haha, i'm always curious about these kinda things, whether it's superstition or whatever. Maybe he oughta think about changing them, he's another player that seems to have went off the boil recently!

I think he has been using those flights for years now.
I really think he needs to get patriotic and have aussie flights. lol

Hahaha...I pondered over my avatar before joining the Forum. I settled for the bold legend that is Jocky! Disturbing, quite possibly...but definitely classy!

Whitlock does some weird things with his setup though, he often has different stems, its almost as if he just grabs whatever is to hand "these will do" and doesn't care if they match or not lol, must be some reason why he does it though.

Simons flights could also be the flag of New South Wales. Home town of Hornsby. The NSW flag . He is and always will be , I am, he is ,we are Australian.

I've been Google images searching him, some great photos of him haha. I would upload my favourite(s) but i'm a newbie and not sure how lol.... R.I.P Wee Jocky

They are the flag of England - but it's probably the closest he could get to the cross of NSW.
As for Jocky - that episode on TOTP was classic lol - for anyone who hasn't seen it:
