I'm not sure what the custom is around the world but here in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, whenever someone in our mixed leagues gets a 180, someone usually goes around with a hat taking up a collection for the shooter.

Sunday night, I hit a 174 and guess what?? The hat got sent around. I was thinking to myself "what's going on here anyway?". I asked the player on the other team what the deal was, he said that for any 170 plus shots, the hat was passed around. I sheepishly accepted the money (drilled T20, T20, third dart was the T18....bad miss ).

Does the hat get passed where you play for a 180?

No mate. We used to get a free pint, but that tradition has unfortunately died off.

Too many publicans thinking of the bottom line these days.

A bar I used to play in would give a free drink for every 3 in a bed- got a lot of free drinks. They stopped doing it. It was a soft tip dart bar
