PostSubject: Tweenie nylon stems   Tweenie nylon stems EmptyFri Oct 19, 2012 11:50 pm

This may sound like a silly question but does anybody know where I could get some tweenie sized nylon stems in red and/or blue colours.

Most places that sell tweenie stems either have them in metal of one sort or another (which I don't really like), or the only nylons they do are black or white/natural.

If you aren't sure then the size I'm after are 40mm excluding the thread - so 45mm with the thread.

Thanks for looking Smile

The dartzone.com have them - that's where I got mine. A-Z darts have them too, the red ones they have are a different shade of red. I've looked everywhere for them myself and these are the only two places I could find them. The dartzone has yellow ones too- I asked them to find me some green ones as well, but no luck yet

Both places are very good. The dartzones are .69 and a -z are .85 so a bit cheaper at dartzone- cheers

Do L-Style do a tween shaft? I think darts warehouse has some you could look at. May be a bit expensive though.

I've seen the Laro's - they are a couple of mm's longer which would be ok. As they are quite expensive for a set of stems I've asked in the Ask Target thread if they could be made available in the UK to at least save some postage cost.

I am actually toying with the idea of getting a few sets of white and dyeing them with some Rit Dye - I could get any colour I wanted then lol

Most durable shafts I've used. They will outlast 4-6 sets of normal nylons. You guys just can't get all the cool colors over there. Maybe ritz dye will work.

I'm a fan of the Laro Silents. But I do throw soft tip darts.

Yes L-style make inbetween shafts, I have some sets of them along with the Laro shafts. If your using either one with steel tips make sure you use champagne flights to avoid robin hoods because those shafts won't take it. The are made out of polycarbonate and are very brittle- the tines will snap after one hit!

Thanks for the advice spat - not sure about them now. Wonder if the normal natural nylons will accept the rit dye. Will find out in the next week or so as I've just bought some on ebay lol

Mc1958 did you look at those sites I mentioned? I think you will have a difficult time dying the nylon shafts. I have been in the plastics industry for 27 years and coloring vinyl is next to impossible without doing in the compound state. They have been trying for years to paint/ dye polymers with not much luck.

Now if you were called Eric Bristow I bet they wouldn't have said no - I do agree though, the gits lol

I have had a look - one was out of stock on the red and blue but I'll be putting an order in next week at the other if the rit dye doesn't work.

Spat,

I've read that Laro's stand up to robin hooding very well. To test this I took a normal set of Laro's, put my steel tips on and robin hooded one 4 times with no ill effect. It did break the plastic lock ring, but they are really made for soft tip anyhow.

Wich laros? The black and white ones are nylon- the colored ones are polycarbonate. I broke the red and blue ones I had after about 10 minutes of throwing. Any of the transparent ones will break very easy

I tired it on the milky white ones. Of course my darts are only 19g with the conversions on them, and I don't chuck them really hard. They held up though.

Yea pretty much all the Japanese designed accessories are for soft tips. I'm not bad mouthing soft tips at all I play a lot of it. Just trying to save people from the high cost of the Japanese accessories when using them for steel tip. I use them for steel tip but I use champagne flights wich eliminate the robin hooding!

Yea I agree, they are more expensive for sure, for me at least if they do not need replacement frequently or even fiddling with while throwing that cost is worth it.

The L-Shaft with Champagne or Shell Lock rings let's folks have their cake and eat it too.

Sorry for the little hijack mc1958. Spat I'm on the Central Coast 60 miles north of Santa Barbara. Not a lot of dart action out here. You are better off in So-Cal or Nor-Cal.
