I don't do fines for my team as I think they're counter-productive!! People play differently when fines are in place and it adds more pressure for them.

I've seen other teams and how it affects them and would never play for a team that uses them.

You may well be right but in our case anyway it doesnt seem to have any effect on scoring and pays for a few beers for the team at the end of the season Very Happy

We do £2 subs each week for that. I played for a team last Season that started fines this Season and one of the guys just throws for 11's and 14's now so he can avoid a fine every throw!!

I don't see the point in playing if you're not going to throw for the T20 every shot.

We don't do fines either - I can't see the point really because as chrisbamb says, people would just start throwing down the side of the board instead of for the 20's or 19's.

Now this is news to me as I have never been in a team, I never knew they did things like fines for bad play.

It sounds a little unfair to me, it may only be small fines but surely its adding a little bit of extra pressure when going for an out shot?

I wouldn't play in a team with fines....because it highlihgts the weakest players and does nothing for confidence. I would advise against it.

Subs sounds better to me, but all the best with your team, whatever you do

We fine but more as a gag. If you miss the board it's a drink and if you hit single digits, excluding doubling in or going for an out, you buy a round. I have yet to experience it act negatively on anyone's game but I think that is because we loosely enforce it and nobody wants to hit single digits anyway
