| After years of me and my mates saying we'd all love to go to world championships, I finally got off my backside and completed the application form, hopefully going on the 8th Jan (Tuesday) Mens 2nd round matches.
I have been to the PDC Premier League finals night, and whilst it was enjoyable (probably for the wrong reasons..... Beer and singing !!), the darts was very much secondary to the party environment.
I think the Lakeside will be about the darts first and foremost (although you are still encouraged to have fun I'm sure, just give the players the respect they deserve).
Really hoping my application is successful and I get our tickets (have applied for 6).
Anyone else been ??

| I've not been but Lakeside is one I would like to go to as it does look more civilised and full of darts fans than the PDC events.
I was toying with the idea of going for the whole week in January 2013, but other things came up that took priority when I got my bonus from work. Hopefully I get a bonus again next year so I can go in 2014 (if the BDO still exist that is lol).

It was actually priced surprisingly reasonable, only £21 per ticket which I think is outstanding value for an evenings entertainment. I only live 40 minutes down the road so I will drive us all there and we are going to book a hotel that is about 2 miles from the venue at only £40 a room (two people per room) so all in all its going to only cost £41 for tickets and stay. (I didn't even bother looking at staying at the Lakeside hotel as the reviews are not great and they are pretty over priced). Just need our beer money (and food) and we are good to go! Bit of an eccentric way of booking though (submitting an application), you would think it could be all done and dusted online, but this is the BDO !! lol |

| Yes I did buy the Monster Ogres and a few other darting bits with part of the bonus - but the majority went on things like furniture for the flat, clothes for work (ie suits and shirts) and also a few bits for my daughters dancing.
I wouldn't have a problem with the £21 for a ticket, but as I don't drive it would cost me a fair bit in train fares before even thinking about booking a hotel room for 1 or more nights and the food and drink on top of that. |

| Forgot to update on this.
Was actually hugely impressed on the whole, (with only one tiny annoyance).
I applied for the tickets on the Wednesday morning (before 9am) and Thursday morning the postie dropped off an envelope franked with a lakeside postage mark !, sure enough inside were all six tickets for the Tuesday evening !!
I managed to book all our rooms at a cost of £118 for all six of us which is great value.
The only real gripe I have is that they didn't give out a table/seating plan so I had no idea where we are sitting.
I called the box office and the guy said - "Yes, we have the seating plan here, but we don't give out a copy" ..... weird ! , I asked him were my table will be and he said its right towards to the front of the stage so will be able to see the action up close, his words were - "you can't get closer without getting your ears pierced!" lol
Really looking forward to going now.
