| Ah yes I have seen that ad, there is another earlier ad too which was in a Northern News Darts mag with a different case. The case I have with mine came out in 76 I think. Made from Porvair a soft plastic type material. |

Yes mate, seen at least 3 different Alan Evans cases including the one you have in your collection gallery. Got a couple more Evans adverts somewhere and sure one of them at least is featured there - will post them up when i dig them out. Got a couple of sets of the Crown Miniture Evans darts as well which you will of no doubt seen and they both have photo wallets which are quite nice. |

| Alan threw 3 different weights, one dart was 20g ,the next 20.5g and the last 21grams. |

| I had a set of these many, many moons ago, but the case that mine came in was the same as grips. I thought, though, that mine were 21g, but they must have been 22g. Also, I'm positive mine came with short shafts?
I remember Alan doing an exhibition in my area back in the 70's, and when he played the women he would only score on bulls and 25's. And against one poor woman he was scoring something like, 100, 125, 150, 125, 100, 100, etc! Against the men he would check out on 140 (for example) by going, bull, D20, bull. However, in matches he was famous for struggling with his finishes?
The three big Welsh players in the 70's, early 80's were, Alan Evans, Leighton Ress and Tony Ridler. And I think all three made a name for themselves via Indoor League? |

Added some pics of the Team Durro players you were talking about the other day on to the Durro Bristow thread if you have not already seen it? Anyway they could of well been 21 or 22 as Evans had several different barrel designs and weights over the years as Rab pointed out just before your post and regardless of what Alan actually chucked with you could buy them at one time or another in assorted weights. In 1983 Silvertrim did them in 20/22/24 and 28g. Could of well come with short shafts as like the weights, wallet and barrel design, they all changed slightly over the years which is to be expected and is par for the course with most dart sets that continue production for a number of years. My Silvertrim are 22g but my Crown Miniture Evans set is 21. Can't remember what weight the copper tungsten ones i've got are off hand. Loved the way Evans used to fill the treble up but you are right sometimes his finishing let him down. Great player though and should of won more. Sure he would of done but we all know it was hard work in the Bristow,Lowe,Wilson etc era. Heard he was ace in exhibitions and famous for his bull hitting famously finishing 150 on 3 bullseyes. |

No idea on Pat Piper. You are right about Linda Batten she became a sports psychologist and performance coach. Colin Baker played in the Spanish Federation Cup as recently as 2003 when he reached the semi-final but he's dropped off the radar as far as i know. Anyone know what Piper and Baker are up to these days? |

| I used to play against Colin Baker many years ago when I lived in London - I had a couple of evenings playing against him down the old Lion & Key on Leyton High Road back in 1978/9. Nice bloke and a decent player as well. |
