Light Dart Collection - Page 2 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Light Dart Collection   Light Dart Collection - Page 2 EmptySat Nov 10, 2012 7:05 pm

Been thinking about the pros using light darts. Most people start out with something around 24g (well i did) so maybe they just get used to heavier darts. When people ask me what weight I used and I say 20g they all say they would never be able to throw them they are too light without even trying them

That's the same thing I did. When I started playing I used a 24g dart. Everyone seemed to use that weight so that's what I went with. I had no intention to use a light dart ever. One day I was at a local steel tip luck of the draw and one of my friends had a set of 14 gram soft tip darts with him. I tried them out for a few minutes and was hitting everything in sight. 140's after 140's. I was throwing so good it actually made me laugh. He let me borrow those darts until I ordered a set of my own. But this was back in 2000 or 2001. The lightest steel tip dart I could find was a 18 g mutli ring dart that A180 had. Still a big drop from 24 grams though.
I think one of the reasons people don't use lighter darts is because there is really not much available. Also, if everyone around them are using 24 gram darts I think it's normal to follow suit. Kind of like copying what you see.

when I bought my first darts the guy in the shop asked me what weight I wanted . I asked him what weight s he had and he said the go from 20g to 30g so I got 25g thinking if I go middle of the road I can't go far wrong. later on I bought 22g because that seamed to be what the average weight the pros used.

About two weeks ago my throw changed, more aggressive and complete follow thru. I turned to the the Light Side with the Puma Legend 14 gram soft tip darts. 135 after 135, 140s, 121s the last two days four 180s two of them today in love with triple 19, 5 and 1 is better. I thought I was in love with my 18 gram Monster Gunners, but the Puma Legend 14 grams are like light and day, I meant night and day for me compared to the Gunners . I got the Pumas back in May when I got the Gunners, tried them for a day and put them back to light. Once again Flight School has me throwing these light darts with bad intention.
