| I find it sad to report that I am being forced into soft tip darting. The reason I say this is that in my home area of California, I cannot find a reasonably available steel tip darts pub. So I'm looking into some Harrows or Winmaus, my two favorite steel tips. Besides having to back down to about 16 grams, is there anything else that I should know about such a drastic change? |

| I'm not an expert on soft tip - I posted what little I know in another thread here - but aren't there any English British bars near you? If there are then why not try and persuade oneof those to install a steel tip board.

Good thought mc, but I've tried in vane. Seems that I am up against local license laws that the bar-keeps are not keen with. I've tried to explain that we throw them at the board not each other, but I don't seem to be getting my point across (no pun intended).

| Thats not good to hear, sounds like people are been forced into soft tip, not good for the steel tip game if its going that way. Not many of us U.K. guys play soft tip so will have to hope some soft tip players can help with your query Shadow.
Of the bars that you have tried, does none of the people playing soft tip know of anywhere to play steel tip? also are they not interested in playing the steel tip game or is it like yourself finding the lack of somewhere to play that has forced them into soft tip? |

| I'm not sure of the reason Darren. I guess it's just a chicken sxxx society. Darts are big in Sacramento and San Francisco, California but not here. I can't even find a friend who is interested. California and Los Angeles county where I live is particularly anti-dartsville. Seems that it progressed that way in the last few years, but one is stuck with it. I used to live in Bangkok, Thailand, Washington, DC, Ohio, Northern California and all over Southeast Asia where the game was very popular, but that's all in the past. The main objection here seems to be that it's too dangerous. So instead of fighting them, I guess I'll join them and start playing the toy darts version. Still anxiously awaiting comments of bits of knowledge in the soft tip world. ie: should I let my preference of steel tip brands and types influence my change-over buys? For instance I prefer razor grips like Winmau Sabotage, Harrows Assassin, and the Ice family. I feel like a traitor but what's a thrower to do?

| Thanks Larry. Your input is the greatest of help. DC is my shop of choice and this is a tremendous help.
Thanks again,
Gary

| Well its a damn shame Gary that you cant find no steel tip game there, you will have little option but to try toy darts then, while doing that you may be able to influence others to try the real mans version of steel tip Failing that, you may have to move next to Larry (nightmare!) |

| Hey lots of people play and enjoy soft tip darts. Lots of money for pros too. I prefer steel but soft tip is a legitimate alternative. Actually soft tip is played by more people than steel! Enjoy yourself buddy! |

| Adrian Lewis playing soft tip in Asia I think that will be a great thing for Soft Tip darts and for Lewis too!
I do personally think that Soft Tip will eventually take over Steel Tip maybe a few more years yet, but it is already very popular in some European countries and is very popular in Asian countries and the U.S.
I kind of hope it wont kill the steel tip game but I think its inevitable that it will do in time.
