Thought it would be better to create a thread for it.
Maybe it can help someone out who has this dartitis thing.
I had dartitis, starting in 2010, After moving from Australia to the UK.
Due to all the the disruption, I was unable to practice darts for a few weeks.
I eventually found a dartboad in a local pup, unfortunately, my ultra smooth throwing action had transformed into a jerky mess.
From then, it all went downhill.
It was a terrible experience, I couldn't throw the dart at all sometimes, I pretty gave up darts at that point.
Only In July last year, after watching the PDC European championship on TV, I was determined to give it another go and reacquire my old throw back.
I practiced like never before, trying everything to get a smooth motion (It wasn't a very enjoyable experience, but I kept pushing forward)
I tried new techniques and throwing actions to try and bypass the psychological barrier.
Joined a low divisional league, and won my first match. (Even with tripping on the oche a few times and scoring a sub 45 average) Sill, I felt it was a huge achievement for me.
Just slowly, I was able to smooth out my throw a little bit at a time.
It was sheer determination that did it in the end.
A few weeks later I was able to completely eradicate it with no sign of it returning.
Since then It has never come back, and as long as I keep practicing, it never will.
I am now playing better then I have ever done before.
So, it is possible to overcome it, just practice allot and try different techniques until you find a smooth one. (even if its unorthodox)
Then, once you get used to the new smooth action, resort back to your original technique once you feel comfortable enough.
It's all about confidence, determination and believing that you can achieve your goal.
Feel free to ask me anything, I have plenty of other ideas and solutions.
