| Since Red Dragon sent me a free set of Dennis Priestley darts now I have 2 sets in 15g. I was thinking of stripping the paint off of one set. Does anyone have any hints or tips of the best way to do it? I was thinking of dipping them point first in some oven cleaner for a few min and then using a toothbrush to scrub the paint off. I can't submerge the entire dart because i want "The Menace" to remain. Any ideas of the best way to do this? Thanks. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I've done it before. Tungsten is a pretty robust resistant metal. I've read others have done it with great success. Well, they are pretty much finished, just a little fine detail to sort out but all good. Soaked in nail varnish remover for 30 minutes then scraped off the bulk of the paint with the end of a screw. Then I put them in fairly hot soapy water to get the remover off and loosen the rest of the paint. I gave them a brush with a nail brush after that. There are some little bits left but its just a case of finishing off those and then it's done. | You can use a couple of razor blades or exacto and scrape it out. Tungsten is tougher than the blade material.
I'd just nick the significant others nail polish remover and give em a little soak. |

| I'm soaking my $110 Dynastys in nail polish now.. I'll let you know if it hurts the lazer etching. Wife is a little irked though. |

| Mine came out nice, shinny and clean; did not hurt the etching at all.

| Jake... Thank you for the hints. Pulled the one dart out after 15 minutes and the red rings just wiped right out. WAY easier then I thought it would be. Ran under hot water with liquid soap and it came out perfect. Didn't even hurt the etched words at all. Very impressed.  [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| I like without paint better for those darts......but now I'm thinking of ADDING paint to my own!!! I think green phase sixes would be awesome Custom darts for poor people!!  |

| I have done it a lot removed and re-painted darts, I bought a couple of bottles of Acetone from Ebay to do it. Its same stuff as nail varnish remover, sometimes though the paint on some darts wont come off even after a good soaking so I use a hard nail brush and hot soapy water and a lot of elbow grease.
If you want to paint your darts buy some small tinlets of enamel paint like the Humbrol paint used for models etc a 14ml tinlet is about £2 |
