Any thoughts on smooth barrels? I mean really smooth like Terry Jenkins or even Silver Widows. I'm dying to try them after your thoughts.

Hankey's are a nice dart. The smooth barrel has remarkable grip.

I'm typically not a fan of the smooth barrels. However, I agree with Jimbo that the Hankey's have are very grippy. I stilly don'y like them but they have a great grip

I want to try a set also but I don't want to swap a set of darts for a set that slip out my hands and waste the perfectly good gripped darts. Weird one tbh but holding pens feel gripped so it could be that but ill never know as ill never try a set unless I go to a shop

i never had ANY intention of playing with a smooth dart. Matter of fact, I used to make fun of my old doubles partner for using a smooth set. Sometime last July I bought a set of 14 gram silver Hankey's to add to my collection. I was never going to play with them because i thought they would be too light and slippery. I was absolutely shocked to find out i really liked them. I was also amazed at how much grip they had. Once the barrel warms up to your hand they are surprisingly grippy. It's been 8 months and I haven't set them down yet. Still my primary dart. I would def recommend everyone try them out at some point. Maybe not the 14 gram ones though. I think the next weight up is 21g.

Interest debate this because when I used to play Super League I used nothing else but smooth barrels. My thinking was that there was little or no resistance as the dart slid in beside the previous one.
The grip or lack of it, served to help me at the time because I had extremely rough hands due to a skin condition which is now cured, I also threw a long pear shaped dart of over 30 grams which fitted my grip precisely.
My feeling is that the grip tends to sell the dart when in a lot of cases it is more about weight distribution combined with the style of throwing. How I miss the shops that used to let you try the dart before buying.

andy smith a180 darts had the best smooth grip out of all the sets i have tried

I love the hankeys and just bought another set of datadart orion whicj are the same as jenkins!! And alot cheaper. So far i love the smooth darts.

+1 for the Hankey's. Brilliant dart. Really grippy smooth barrel combined with a slight taper makes for a surprisingly comfortable dart to throw.
The Datadart Omega smooths (also sold as Gary Anderson smooths) are nice as well.
The Red Dragon 'sleex' are alright, but not terribly keen on the straight barreled versions.

Omega = Orion, damned phone.
