| Well I think my oldest memory was when I went to visit my Uncle in Australia when I was about 7. He lived in a bungalow but in a big room at the back he had a snooker table and a dartboard. He would play most evenings and I would watch and sometimes in the day I'd get to play snooker. I wasn't allowed to play darts so of course one day whilst there I snuck a few throws, as I went to retrieve the darts that had barely made the board one fell out and I instinctively tried to catch it stabbing myself in the finger. Couldn't say anything cause I wasn't supposed to be playing I remember going to the legion with my grandad once not sure if it was before or after this, he played darts most weeks until he got ill and that's how I got into it. Has a board in the bank garden at home on the shed with cheap darts with the moulded flights but my mum would play me. That's probably the oldest ones I can remember. |

well I think my niece will forever remember the day I got my one and only triple bullseye. She was watching me throw some darts, so I said what shall I go for, she pointed at the bullseye lol. Ok I said. All 3 darts went in, she cheered and I was amazed too! I bet she thought I was some kind of wizard lol! She always says do you remember when you hit all the red bit. It must seem like a long time ago to her, but it was about 3 years ago. Here is the pic of it: [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] |

| My earliest memory was playing darts in my room on my dad's old board, cant remember much about the darts although i think they had wooden stems and feather flights. My younger sister was watching and I accidentally hit her in the leg with a bounce out. My dad then snapped the darts and removed the board. Got back into it a few years later when I was about 12 when me and a few school friends played at the local youth club. Then barely played after the age of 14 until I picked it back up last year. |

| My earliest darts memory was my mum and her mates playing in the flat we lived in when I was only about 5/6, my mum was a very decent player in her time and still gives me a kicking every now and then these days, I had to take out 106 to beat her last week because she was on a double. Then my next memories where when I first started playing when I was about 11, all my mates where outside pretending they was Gazza and Shearer and I was in the dining room running round pretending I was Andy Fordham and that I'd just hit the winning double at Lakeside, He did it himself about 8 years later |

| My earliest memory is standing on the bed on the spare-room trying to get my dads darts out of the board but I couldn't reach them. He came into the room to have a practice so off course I wanted to play too. Reaching the board was too hard so my dad bought a new board the next day and took his down and set it on a chair. My new mission in life at that point was to hit a bullseye ( when your knee high to a grasshoppper nobody gives a poop about 180s ). It took me ages from what I remember and when I did hit one the bug had taken to me. I wanted 2 bulls Sometime further down the line I remember my mum telling me to practice on the board on the wall and to go for 19's because I wouldn't have to throw as high and she explained how unlike my dad, some people throw at 19's as supposed to 20's. I don't think I've ever looked back since. |

Yup, both parents played for the Northern Ireland team. Dunno why they failed to pass the talented gene on to me I live in the hope that I'll sometime wake up and my average will double |

| My earliest memory is of watching the 1983 world championships and being mesmerized, as was I only 17 I remember rooting for the youthful Keith Deller, the qualifier and underdog.
I still remember feeling an excitement about a sport that I had never experienced before, the buzz of hearing the cry oooonne huuuundred and eeeiiighty. combined with the manic commentating that only Sid Waddell could provide. Boy was I bitten, and when he beat Bristow with that 138 finish in a packed smoked filled Jollee's nightclub, I knew I had to get a set of darts.
Fortunately so close after Christmas I still had some money left, and the next day arrived at my local sports shop, with absolutely no idea of different weights, style's etc, I looked at the selection of darts available, and the bristle dart board and soon realized I couldn't afford a set of tungsten's and a board.
After a bit of deliberation I opted for the board and a set of brass darts, On the shopkeepers advice I bought a couple of spare sets of shafts in different lengths and some spare flights.
I still remember to this day how heavy that dart board was, two bloody miles I had to walk home with it,as I didn't have enough money left for the bus. I could barely move my arms for a couple of days, let alone play darts.
We lived in a terraced house with not much room for a dartboard, but improvise I did at first Placed it a few steps up the stairs, Christ was it knackering retrieving the darts. Then I had what I thought was an innovative idea, got my dad's stepladders and leaned them against the back door and balanced the board on top.
I got my mate to come round and play against me and he soon got his own darts. after a few weeks and some improvement we headed for a pub nearby that had a sign outside stating pool and darts here.
Enthusiastically we entered the pub and I went up to the bar, and got two pints. Wheres your dartboard I asked the Landlord and he sent us into the taproom. What the bloody hell is that I exclaimed with dissapointment to my mate, dunno he replied. We had just had our first encounter with the Manchester Log end Board.
In time I went on to play both the log end, and 501 leagues, and got the tungstens to suit me.
What happened to that first set of brass darts? Iv'e no Idea, but I would love to have em in my collection now. |

| My earliest memories would have to be when I first started playing at around 20. I used to get together with 2 mates and we would have a few beers and play mickey mouse (similar to cricket except with doubles, triples and beds and a few extra numbers).
Then my brother told me of a knock out at the local pub, so we went and played that for a couple of months. Then 1 of the 2 blokes I played with suggested we try and get into a league.
I have never looked back since. Except for the 9 years I took off. That was the best dart decision I ever made. Came back a better player. |
