Thanks Grip. It's very true though. Even playing against the very best of players in steel tip you can sometimes get yourself out of a jammy by throwing a 2 mark or worse. At that same high level in soft tip. It's a deadly mistake. Imagine the pressure MANY player's will be feeling in September when Dartslive comes to Vegas. $13,000 on the line for 1st place and players from the Untied States WILL shoot differently. Some better, some worse. |

For sure. I don't remember the last time there was an open entry at a dart tournament where the average joe smoe could be playing for a $13,000 first place prize on American soil. Anyone????? Biggest payout ever on American soil with an open entry. What was it? |

| Big soft tip tournaments are a lot more expensive than steel tip tournaments. League really isn't much different. |

Dartslive has ZERO coin drop. machines are set to free play. But yes. I agree with you. I was just at the NY State Championships and ran threw some quarters for sure. |

| I'm only familiar with the Bullshooter wich is $20 entry fee for every event, 75 cents a game. Then when you play doubles 501 it's freeze rule so it's $1.50 per team a game. I really don't like the freeze rule. The darts live as I understand you have to purchase a card that you swipe in the machine, but I don't know much about it yet. Can't wait until it gets to this area |

| A question for people that play both steel tip and soft tip.
Do you feel it takes time to adjust when changing because of the weight difference or do you throw light steel tip darts? I ask because most people talk about using 14 grams soft tip darts but 14g steel tips are rare. Not unheard of but people generally use over 20g in steel tip. |

| Bigshow I use 23g steel tips and just started throwing 18g softies at my bristle board yesterday. It took me maybe 2 hours to adjust and now throwing the 18s just as well. I now play on using the 18g for both soft and steel |

| When I first switched from steel it took me awhile to adjust from a 26g dart to an 18g- quite awhile actually! Now there is no negative effect for me. I throw 22g steel tips and 18g soft tip. I only practice with my steel tip and for me it helps my soft tip game a lot. For some reason for me it helps throwing a heavier dart then switching to a lighter one. I guess because the heavier one makes me throw the dart! Make any sense? I think after throwing soft tips for a long period of time it is difficult to switch to something heavier. That's how it works for me but we are all different |

I ask because most people talk about using 14 grams soft tip darts but 14g steel tips are rare. Not unheard of but people generally use over 20g in steel tip. I'm one of the lucky ones i guess. I shoot a very light steel tip dart, so it makes no difference when i go back and forth. Actually I use the same exact dart for both soft and steel. You can use a an 18 or sometimes 20 gram dart in soft tip and the trend in steel tip is to use a lighter dart. So it shouldn't really make much of a difference. For some reason though a lot of players use a 26 gram or heavier dart. Unless your name is Phil Taylor I personally think it's a very bad idea. It's hard to group darts of that size. I'm talking about your average player here, not a pro. But other then Phil T it seems like most use a low 20 gram dart. Many pro's are going even lighter then that. Just makes for more room in the trebles. |

That's going to change for me soon though... I think. If I ever get any mail. I just ordered 2 sets of light steel tip darts to test out. Hopefully I'll like them. I'd stick with the darts i have now for steel tip but I can't find any conversion points I like. The idea with the L-Style hard lip is great. Unfortunately there were many negatives and I won't use them again. I wish someone would make a steel tip conversion point made of actual steel that looks like an L-Style. Hmmm... gives me an idea. |

As much as I like soft tip. I wouldn't play it at home. I wouldn't bother buying a board. It's something I highly enjoy playing with others when I'm out and about though. |

| Cheers for the answers guys. I`ve thrown with 26g barneys now for about a year, I threw with my dads darts all my life but they weight about 2 stone lol I can`t imagine using 18g. The lightest I have used is Ted Hankeys 21g but I felt like I could hardly feel them weight wise. They are on here for swap for the same dart but heavier. I dare say soft tip just aint for me. |
