So, as winner Big Gun has chosen the new challenge and a great one it is too:
" This week will be fun to explain. A game of 501 with a difference. Your first 3 darts are at T20 then the 2nd 3 at T19 then 18 and 17 and so on until you are down to less than 40 then you can set up the shot for the finish which must be a double as per the normal rules. so lets say you are on 80 and you are down to the number 15 you must leave 40 or less shooting on 15's so a treble 15 and a single 15 leave D10 which is then your finish and the number you got to the finish on is your number you must register on the leader board.
So just to clarify 3 at 20's score 100 3 at 19's score 95 3 at 18's score 54 3 at 17's score 119 etc =368 3 at 16's score 80 = 448 so you have 53 left as you go for 15's you hit a single 15 leaving 38 so then that's the shot you go for if you split it go your normal route 3 D16 etc and your score to register is 15's I hope that is clear. If not just ask me again lol "
After the initial question's here is some added info to try and help:
" The darts in other numbers can score (ie stray 5's from your 20's throw) to make it a bit easier and as long as you are below 40 you can finish any way you like but as I said if you are on 41 when throwing your 1st dart at 14's you have to score a single to get below the 40 mark then finish as normal from the 27 so you can't go 1 tops etc. Never thought of this before as it has never happened but I suppose you could effectively bust from there if you hit the treble so then you would move on to 13's and again the single would leave you 28 and you would register 13 as your shot. "
Hope the added info helps, any problems just ask.
Once again, the winner chooses the next challenge, post your scores and someone will update the table
I think this is a fantastic idea for a challenge so I hope a few more have a go at it this week. As Kev says, if you are unsure of the format just ask

If you miss the 15's then do you do back to 20's or all the way to T1's?

Its not just trebles that count Adam, but yeah, if needs be you go all the way down to 1, so 3 is the lowest score you can leave, S1, D1.

Whatever number you finish/check on is your score.
So if you checkout 80, T15, S15, D10 - your score is 15's.

So you checked out when you were on 15's?
6 visits (20's - 15's plus the finish)
I think thats correct.

I was on 63- hit 2 14's and a 3 to leave 32 then hit that. Don't know if that's 14 or 15

14's then
Big Gun just added some explaination to make it clear.
" Yes the darts in other numbers can score to make it a bit easier I usually don't score them but that will be fine and as long as you are below 40 you can finish any way you like but as I said if you are on 41 when throwing your 1st dart at 14's you have to score a single to get below the 40 mark then finish as normal from the 27 so you can't go 1 tops etc. Never thought of this before as it has never happened but I suppose you could effectively bust from there if you hit the treble so then you would move on to 13's and again the single would leave you 28 and you would register 13 as your shot. I have just worked out that if you hit 60 on your 1st throw then continue to hit singles all the way you will end up on 36 with your next 3 darts and 11 will be your number to register. "
I will add to original post.
As with many things explaining something you do, especially in writing, can be difficult and so it's appreciated that if we are to have different challenges rather than the same, round in doubles or the like, they are going to sound complicated at first.
I have read through this twice now and feel I understand the idea, it sounds a great game as it makes you practice scoring on numbers you may not regularly throw at.
Anyway, I hope a few members take the couple of minutes to read through the rules and give it a go at some point in the week.
Cheers

it's basically a 501 game but you dont just throw at 20's all the time it is quite simple really when you start playing it. It helps with throwing for different trebles is good for grouping and excellent for your maths as you are scoring irregular scores so a winner all round. The only difference to a straight 501 game is you throw for different trebles each time and you cant finish until you are at 40 or under on the number you are shooting for. Give it a try as it's easier to play than to explain. Good luck

14's then
so its really what ever number you throw at to get under 40 rather than the number of darts to finish then??
