| Other tourney's are now catching on and borrowing Dartslive idea. This will be a NO COIN DROP event.!!! If the new companies keep this up Arachnid will SOON find itself out of business.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] LINK<--------- |

| JD, all our local tourneys are "no quarters", getting ready for the 2013 OCMA State Dart Tournament, we play on the galaxy around here. I think it is a regional thing. I remember in the south in the mid 90's, there were some really weird and complicated machines. I have been always used to the Arachnid with the monitor that displayed everything. | theres a bunch of tournaments that are no coin drop. usually the ones that require you to are "vendor/opperator run"...meaning they own the boards and want to milk all your quarters because thats their business.
usually a no coin drop is a manufacturer tournament (dartslive, phoenix etc) or you pay more for entry fees ($25 instead of $20) to cover your coinage |

There's a vendor out of Syracuse that has a lock down on all the spots here upstate. All their tourney's have $.75 games. It's ridiculous to have to pay that much. At the NY state championships I paid a $20 entry fee and made it to the finals of the men's singles cricket. I probably spent another $30 in games. So it cost me $50 (approx) to win $200. It's no wonder why events like this are on the decline. People are spending too much money with very little chance to win any back. Keep in mind this was only one event. Imagine if I played in 4 other events. Crazy coin drop. |

That's insane!!! Hopefully with the new companies coming around we will be seeing the last of that crap!!! A one time entry fee and no coin drop is certainly the wave of the future. (I hope) |

| nope. NDA is "good old boy" network, nothing will ever change. just seek out the no coin drops when you can.
and as for payout to coin ratio...i win $150-$200 EVERY week at blind draws spending at most $10...im lucky if i double my money in vegas
at dartslive stage 7 i won $0...no coin drop though lol |

at dartslive stage 7 i won $0...no coin drop though lol Did we meet in Vegas at Stage 7? Yes. I have similar stories about my weekly 'lunch money'. When I was in-between contracts back in 2011, I was playing several nights a week and also on weekends. In addition to the regular blind draws each week, we also have 1 or 2 weekend Calcuttas per month. Those Calcuttas often have very high payouts. I keep track of everything in a spreadsheet. It is amazing how much it adds up each week. Payout to Coin Ratio? LOL. I finished 3rd in the Singles Pro AA class at the 2011 Bullshooter World Championships. The money that I won in that 'World' finals singles championship, in their highest division of 'Pro' classification, was very sad. When you add the coin drop, and the 4 nights of hotel expenses, it gets pretty expensive. The lower divisions paid out more than that. When the lower division players get paid more than the highest level professional division, that creates an interesting behavior in the players. I call it sandbagging. One year, there was a Regionals event where they made the Pro AA division play more legs (best of 5, instead of best of 3). They were making more in coin drop, but the payout was not increased. I paid out a whole lot in quarters that weekend. Luckily, I don't play for the money alone. I play because I love the game. Darts is a (serious) hobby that gives me personal enjoyment. The lunch money won is an added bonus. |

| Back on topic.....I had breakfast with Johnny K late last year during a tournament weekend. I got to learn more about his role with Phoenix, their market strategy, and the options for bringing their boards to my area.
Also, Phoenix had a similar payout tournament 2 weeks ago in a town not far from Philadelphia.
I stopped at a Phoenix bar when I was in Hong Kong. The Phoenix board is a nice board. |
