hey! im having trouble with sharpening my darts. i have a jiffy sharpener and i cant get the darts to sharpen.
can u guys please either help me or link me a vid? thanks

not supposed to sharpen darts, if anything just scuff them with the stone or sand paper

are they bouncing of the wire or hitting the board and just not sticking??

I tried using the wee sharpening tools but find scuffing the end with sand paper like said above works just as well if not better.

both! maybe its the way the hit the board. because they are not going straight into it, they go in at an angle

the board is just some no brand board , like it has STAPLES!!!

its not a nail type point thats needed, its grip, that's needed, the advice on here is right.

Rub the point against a red brick if you cannot get sandpaper!!!

the thicker wires could be the main problem then but i would def get the points scuffed up a bit and see if it improves any.

Like said by shafted don't sharpen the points just add grip and take any burrs off. I read somewhere years ago that a steel tip dart point should be similar to the end of a ball point pen and I have stuck by that.

To jump in here....not that I'm aware of. A practice school/shop opened in Belfast a few years back but he lasted less than a year. The shop couldn't compete with online prices and he didn't have enough interest in the school.

Like Mac already said. Don't sharpen them. Points that are too sharp will cause more bounce outs based on my own personal experience. I can honestly say that I've never once sharpened a dart in my entire life. I have used one of those little round stones to remove a burr but that's about it. Sandpaper is a must as others have said.
A while back I got a brand new Blade 4. I was playing on it for about a week with NO bounce outs at all with my old darts. I had a set of Hankey's show up from A180 and within minutes of playing I had a couple bounce outs due to the points being extremely sharp. I got fed up and took them outside and dulled them up by grinding the points on the concrete driveway. Eventually I got Storm points and they have a very dull point. Kind of thick like a soft tip point. I rarely get bounce outs now and my board is 6-7 months old. Getting a bit beat up.
So.... sharp points= bad!

love my blade 4 and i only use storm points never had to scuff them been using them for months
