I have to admit, I know NOTHING about darts/sports betting. I just don't gamble. Kind of hard to do in the states anyway. Could someone please explain what the odds are? When I see the numbers like 2/7 odds I have NO idea what it means. I know sports betting is pretty big overseas. Maybe some of you guys can clue me in? Thanks.

2/7 means u bet 70 and your return is 90 meaning you won 20, odds of 3/1 you invest 1 ur return is 40, ur stake is the right side number ur return to that stake is the left side number, hope thats as clear as mud to ye.......

So the better the player, the worse you get back on your bet?

I see numbers next to Phil and the 1st number is usually bigger.

Think of the odds - eg 2/7 or 3/1 - as though they are fractions. If you win you get your stake money back and your winnings are your stake multiplied by those fractions. If your bet loses you obviously get zilch back lol.

So if the first number is smaller than the second you will get less money back than if they were the other way round.

Thats is 'odds on' JD, meaning that you put more on to win less, for instance 1/2 (or 1 to 2 on) means you bet 2 to win 1 (total return 3 which includes your 2).

So if Taylor is 4/5 (5 to 4 on) you will place 5 and if he wins you will win 4, your total return is 9 (your 5 plus the bookies 4 (your winnings).

If MvG is 2/1 (2 to 1) then you place 1 and if he wins you win 2 (total return of 3) so if you matched the bet and also had 5 on MvG you would win 5x2, 10. This time your total return would be 15, consisting of your 5 stake plus the bookies 10, your winnings.

Hope that helps mate, any query's send me a PM and i will see if I can clear it up if you were thinking of a particular bet. http://i111.photobuc

I had a sneaky fiver on Taylor when I saw him at 11/4. Even at two sets down I thought he would win happy dude
