PostSubject: Pet Peeve......   Pet Peeve...... EmptySat Dec 01, 2012 9:34 am

I really wish Phil Taylor would stop taking the board down after all his wins - I repeat wins, as when he gets beat he is off the oche before you can blink.

I like Taylor but none of the other players do it, he just removes the board as if it is his right to do so (that may be the case) but if so, he should be humble enough to do so when he gets beat too.

rant on

On a positive, I am still buzzing about the Beaton/Barney match, what a game, never seen the Adonis get mad until tonight, could have gone either way but absolutely chuffed to bits that Beaton come through in the end. rebel smilie

I agree. Phil can't get off the stage quick enough when he loses. So he knows how it feels. It should go both ways.

My pet peeve is heavy darts with movable tips Laughing

Phil's attitude comes a close second. That MVG game were PT grumbled at him for not pulling his wood quick enough was pathetic. Does he expect his opponent to run to the board!!!

He lost me that day.

p.s. a fair drunken rant Reb

I have often thought it but decided tonight after the delirium I went through watching me fav Beaton pip through that I have had enough of watching him do it - I like the fella but can't get my head around a) Why he does it, b) why he only does it when he wins and c) Why no one else does it.

My pet peeve is people who play darts and then wont chalk when they lose saying 'I'm no good at taking away' Sorry for getting the word TAKE AWAY in there again I assure you it's not related to my other story lol

I say if you cant chalk don't play Simple as that as for me it's as bigger part of the game as the throwing of darts.

And the Beaton / Barney game has been the match of the tournament so far. I think this will be a right old upset as to who wins , a bit like last year I suppose when Painter won it as I didn't see that one coming either.

Gwaaaaan the Force I say Pipe is my main man cos I want to see him in the Premier League next season.

i was reading wazza's site a few days ago in found it interesting that he was asked to chalk for a season and said it's the best thing that could of happened to him and recommends everyone should do more chalking.

Not only does he take the board, but he makes the person he just beat sign it!

It makes me wonder if he doesn't have some sort of crazy shrine to himself somewhere in his house that is full of all of these dartboards, that he can visit in order to stroke his... massive ego! Laughing

Me too, in fact I wouldn't mind a Lewis World Champion signed one, or one signed by Grand Slam winner Barney - any professional for that matter - which is why I wondered why only Taylor does it?

As I say, I like Taylor, more respect for him than all the other great player due to the way he has changed the public opinion of the sport, he is a living legend and I doubt his achievements in the sport will ever be matched - but why is he the one single player either allowed to or that chooses to take the board down, tap his freshly defeated opponent on the shoulder and say, sign the board?

A board signed by Taylor would be just as prized if he signed it after losing a match as when he signs it after winning a last 32 match. http://i111.photobuc

I would rather sign the board after losing then have some assclown jumping up and down screaming after every leg he wins and 140+ he hits

Even more so, I would imagine, especially if you were the one who beat him!!

Which makes me wonder... has anyone ever tried this with him? I wonder what his reaction would be if say, Robert Thornton, chased him off the oche after their match in the UK open with the board in hand? Would make for good TV, I bet! lol!

My pet peeve is MVG's antics when he wins a game(not even the match just a game) he looks like such an ass when he does this!! He's won enough tournaments and matches that I feel like he should act like he has won before. Someone new that hits a 180 or wins a comp that has never won then yes I can live with the antics it's high emotion and not easily controlled, but someone who's been there before and won before it's down right maddening to me!!!

I've read that Phil signs the boards and it's used for charity. He's also part owner of the PDC so I'd imagine he gets away with a little more than most.

I'm 100% behind anything for charity (worked for one for 8 years so know funds are hard to come by) but he normally hands them to a fan off the stage so not sure how that works.

And yes, I had guessed that Phil's position within the PDC merited him removing the board after each match, would I be correct in thinking all the board are changed to a new board for each match?
If so, why don't they get the winner, and if they wish to, the loser of all the matches to sign the boards for charity - I really would like that to happen.
