i found this on an other forum . thought maybe some of you could find it useful . the author was i guy called edwin , perhaps he is on here any way here it is

Thanks Jamie, I think I seen a similar one with pics of the flights, I wonder how they can measure the surface area so accurately?

yeah dunno, they only way i can think of is perhaps outline the flights on graph paper and scan and maybe there is a program that could work it out ????

Good idea, maybe we should do something similar and people can put there own flights in from various suppliers, might be interesting to see if they follow similar sizes.

Whoever did the math on the surface areas of the flights had waaay too much time on their hands cry laugh

Found this on dartwarehouse's website, hope it can be useful:


Standard gives maximum leverage to the flight mechanism because of its larger area.
Kite has a smaller area, thus giving the dart faster flying speed.
Teardrop allows maximum lift from a small flight and tends to keep the tail of the dart down.
Slim is designed for the fast-flying dart and allows the tail to stay low.
Lantern is very similar to the kite design but slightly more back heavy trajectory.
No.6 Shape in between Kite and Standard
