Not really. I can usually hit d5 and d1, but struggle on d20. |

| It's not weird at all. There is less fear on the 12 because there's no penalty for missing inside. You know you don't want to leave it odd and the small amount if stress can slightly increase the tension in your muscles. We all know it doesn't take much to miss the small targets. They are typically practiced less as well so throw at them more often and just know you have to go all for it with no worries. |

| They are all the same size apart from the bull, so if you can hit one then you can hit them all. That said, I absolutely hate being left D20 with 3 darts in hand lol |

| I go for any double and never try and split them if I'm playing singles. If I'm playing pairs and had either D3 or D5 with one dart left and my opponents weren't on a shot then I may go for a 2 to leave my partner something better.
So to answer your question I'd still go for it as I figure in the event I miss it and go inside for a single 20 then D10 is a piece of cake (4's and 10's are my favourites lol). |

| I love all doubles. A double means I can win. I never have a problem with that! |

| Makes (almost) perfect sense to me.
I'm not perfectly accurate either vertically or horizontally. So while it's true that the whole bed is the same size for each double, the ones that are closer to a perfect horizontal or vertical offer a smaller effective target for me because I have to be "perfect" in one plane or the other to have a chance.
The "corner" doubles (12, 18, 2, 7) are the ones with the largest "surface area" in both planes. Actually, the wire between each of those and their neighbor is probably the "ideal" target, but you have to pick one obviously.
What I mean is by contrast, to hit D20 for example, you have to throw the dart in a vertical slice that's only a half inch wide, but can miss horizontally by quite a lot IF you hit the vertical alignment perfectly. D6 is the reverse. Plenty of room to miss vertically, but the horizontal has to be spot on.
These others offer more wiggle room in both planes so effectively offer a more forgiving target for a crap throw like mine.
So, I understand liking 12 and not 9/5 as much. As well as the psychological effects of missing inside on those that the others have mentioned. |
