| I fully agree that darts should be an Olympic sport, they have shooting and archery so why not darts. The blog is interesting but I would stick to the best competitors being chosen as supposed to some of his suggestions. Perhaps soft tip could be introduced as well. With Willie O`Connor and Brendan Dolan then the Iirsh would take the gold. |

| If it does happen I suspect they will use the soft tip game, as it used more in the other countries now. |

| I think it will happen some day, but can't see it for a while yet. After all it would fill any arena they hold it in which is what the organisers really want. As for what style they would put in, i think they would have both soft tip and steel. Mainly due to both having a massive following in different parts of the world. We can always hope like. |

| I think i saw somewhere that in order for it to become an olympic sport, it has to be in the international body that approaches the Olympics. Unfortunately they dont seem to be doing much |

| i just can't see it being an olympic sport. there is very little athleticism behind darts and it is quite unpopular outside of the uk and certain pockets in asia. then again i don't think archery or shooting should be olympic events either unless they're part of a biathlon/decathlon. don't get me wrong, i love playing darts but i just don't think it has what it takes to be an olympic sport. |

| they should change the name to Olympic Sports then and not Games, but if the Olympics is all about physical effort then I agree get rid of some of the events like archery and air rifle shooting. |

I think you're right. Now that we have Japan, Asia, and a host of other eastern countries getting involved with soft tip darts, it would be the one we see at the Olympics. I think this massive darting boom we are seeing in Japan might improve our chances at seeing darts make it in. |

| I do love the game of darts but I don't think it belongs in the Olympics. Along with several other events that have no place in my opinion. |

| If there were darts this year the arena would be packed to capacity for sure. |

| Gee, I don't know!! What could darts possible replace? Dressage? Rhythmic gymnastics? Synchronized swimming? I would definitely like to see darts included. The US could always use another Gold medal. |

| Alot of the "games" that are "less athletic" usually seem to involve some sort of dangerous implement, shooting, bows, etc. On top of that if hand eye coordination games like pingpong are in there I saw darts is even more qualified(steel tip variety at least).
I'm curious what former olympic javelin hopeful bob anderson would say! |

| How about Barry Atkinson. He was an olympic archer and fantastic dart player.
The best chance to have gotten it in would have been as an exbo sport in London. Oppotunity missed I think. |

| i dont think any sport should be at the games unless it is going to be above the events outside the games like football or tennis play a higher level at wimbledon or the world cup etc. |

| The only reason I disagree with darts being a part of the Olympics, along with some other events, is that the Olympics were started as a way for Roman warriors to train in a variety for war tactics and skills (javelin, track, hurdles, shot-put, long jump, high jump, etc.) to prepare for battle and prove who was the greatest warrior. Ping-pong, shuffle board, and darts don't fit the description for me. |

Although darts was quite likely started by bored English archers? |

Thats one theory about the origins David, but dont think any one can say for certain, seems very likely though. |
