I played darts a few times when I was a kid but nothing serious. The bug really hit me 5 years ago and I started to play at home regularly since January 2007. I hit my first 180 in April 2007. Not hit many since then though only a total of 19 which is abysmal.

I stopped playing in July 2009 when I broke my shoulder and never threw with my right arm until January 2011, and really struggled since then.

Just wondering how quickly everyone hit their first 180?

I played as a sub on friends team about 9 years ago. That first night I ever played I had a 180 they were all like you need to play full time for us so then I ended up playin the whole second half and did pretty well. I didn't hit another one until about 2 years later though. It was beginners luck.lol About 4 years ago I started taking darts a lot more serious after going to a major comp. around here and getting my ass handed to me I started practicing everyday since then I really can't count how many I've had. When I shoot at home for about an hour I will usually hit anywheres between 4-6 within that hour. None of that matters too much though if you cant hit any doubles so I practice them more than scoring.. ;)

I started playing as soon as my parents felt i was capable of throwing darts, I hit my first when i was about 11 years old. Both my parents played for the N.I team so darts was in my blood.

Hit my first when I was fifteen....down in the basement with a set of brass Bombs...they could just fit in the triple...lol My Mom and Dad did not believe me...they said they did not see it!!!

I can't say for sure because I had a few 9 marks in cricket in my first couple of months of playing. I started playing August 8 2011 and I didn't know 01 existed or that I was supposed to be keeping track until early October. The first "intentional" 180 I hit was October 16 at 9:59PM. I have 12 more since then including 2 in the same day last Saturday.

180,180 whats that ? lol in soft tip years ago. In steel took me couple of weeks I guess

Don't know really...the point about 180s is that folk put huge pressure on hitting them....once you get a few they really stop becoming "special" and guess what ???? You hit loads more. For novices...getting one treble 20 every through is the key in my opinion.

I totally agree Bov. They are not a big deal anymore. I do love to see someone in leagues who has never hit one get one though. It's nice to see the smile it puts on their face. And you're also right about hitting just 1 treble 20 I tell everybody at leagues it makes up for 2 bad darts thats why they give you 3 to throw and it still keeps you in most games. That should be the goal of any player thats trying to get better just try and get at least 60 with every throw and just watch how many games you will be in or win.

I'm just happy with all three darts in the 20 bed. I'll take a ton or more of course, but my real goal 60 per throw right now. I'll worry about the trebles when I can do that consistently.

Ha! You must have posted this while I was typing my last one. This is it exactly. I'm just trying for 60 and if I get more, hooray. Currently only average about 45 per throw (including doubles which is what really kills my averages) but I'm working on those too. Honestly, I just like having them group together well. Even if I only score a 30 or a 22 or something. So long as the flights are touching (or even better the barrels!) I'm pretty happy.

Can't remember how long, but it was a couple of days before I was due to pick up my first pair of glasses so everything was blurry and I wasn't sure what I hit until I went to get the darts out lol. About 2-3 months I'd guess at.

I can't remember the 1st 180. But I definitely remember the 1st 6 mark on the bull.

It was in 1996. The same year i started to play seriously.

my was yrs ago cant remember wen but i was in a freinds house wen i did it i know 1 thing i cant hit 1 on my practice board with them been smaller trebles i can get 2 in but never no.3 grrrrrr but hit two yesterday wen i changed too my other board in 9 darts been playin 30 yrs nearly lol

After playing for about a year i hit my first in practise, hit my first match one about a year later. They were a rare thing for me back then

Thought you would have had yours sooner than a year, I think if I had not messed up my shoulder though I would have been a lot better, I was in that kind of progress where you know that you have reached a new level and was looking forward to hitting lots more but was not to be sadly.

I was only 15 when i started playing grip, Darts was just something for me to do on a monday night, rarely practised at the time. Wasnt until I left college and had to give up football due to an ankle injury that I really started taking it seriously.

I see, that makes sense then.

My bacgroun is fery similar to yours grip. dabled a littlie when I was young got serious as a Backyarder abou 3 years ago and I reckon It took me about 2-3 months before I hit one. Just about when I got over that Is my stace right is my grip right is my elbow strait letgo at this time dont jump PHASE and everything became WITHOUT THINKING.
And as said before once you get a few you dont start panicing wen the first one or 2 darts go in and they get easyr.

I like to get atleast 1 a week now
