Is it just me or has anyone got a bad night playing experience to match this:
Was playing in the usual Wednesday night Riley's singles last night. As a few of you know I am(was) playing with very light darts with I did like. Anyway I had a new set of stems arrived that morning (fit flight long), had a few throws with them and they seemed to work so I put them in the case for that night.
Got to Riley and started practising, couldn't hit a barn door with a hedgehog, stepped off practice board for 20 min and went to change back to my original set-up. I HADN'T PACKED IT!! Thats it then, my head starts going and I start panicking as everyone is arriving, I man up a little and try to settle down and concentrate on my throw, not the fact that I don't like my darts set up. Doesn't work. Couldn't hit a bigger barn door with 2 hedgehogs.
Anyway, first game comes around and I try my best but heads gone and I loose it 2-1 with a poor performance to say the least.
Back to the practice board and Im still bad. Then the air conditioning goes off and with 45 men in the area it starts to get hot and sweaty. Very hot and sweaty.
My next match it up and for the first leg I hit consistently below 60 every 3 darts, I, in my wisdom start blaming the grip and sweat on the tiny little darts Im using. So, I chalk up my fingers/darts and wax to try and help. First dart, my sweat mixes with the wax and chalk, forms a paste, darts actually stuck to my finger on release and goes from my grip onto the dividing wall between broads!! O the shame. As you can imagine my head goes and I get beaten severely.
Being the grown up that I am I shake his hand and apologise for my performance as its not nice to play someone as appalling as i was then make my excuses and leave. In the car park I lose my grown up control and jump up and down on my case containing my ex darts .

Came home, picked up my 26g sigma's with the phase 5 stems and orange fabric pear flights and hit 6 180's in the half hour I was playing for.
Heavy darts are the way forward, little darts are not
Anyway, ill be joining flight school soon to help my mental game so it never happens to me again.

As fate would have it or call it just blind luck and the saving of £55, Eddie the elf returned my design and cheque this morning saying that the design was too complex and he had a lot easier custom darts to make. After a telephone conversation he explained that the dart was going to be so small that he feared that he would shatter more than he could produce. Dont blame him, but now i may get him to make them in 26g

Must have been pretty complex for eddie to turn them down lol

Been there done that mate. I'm sticking with heavier dart- Taylor and others seem to like them.

never mind at least he returned the cheque and a lesson learned the hard way but a lucky escape too.

started playing with vikings 26 then drifted downwards.
in time of stress we always go back to what we started with. and if you cant find them you pick up the similar ones

I changed my grip not long ago and yeasterday I tried to hold as I used too and couldnt throw the damn dart. It felt totally out of place. So I made a good choice. Now I belive I have my natural throw.

It can happen to the best of us mate. Once the heads gone its hard to get the arm going. They do say what doesn`t kill us makes us stronger.
