don't waste darts...remember that each dart is worth 33% of your turn. If you are behind in a game and miss with your first 2 darts dont get frustrated and feel like the 3rd dart is meaningless...have confidence that the 3rd dart will hit a treble.

I believe that's where experience comes in Larry. For many years i chucked a third dart in temper but as i got older and wiser i tried to stay composed and remember the times i`ve hit two single ones and a sweet treble 20. Thinking positively is essential, especially when your backs against the wall.

Its true, I often see the pros do it though, maybe not intentionally, but they sometimes throw a naff last dart because there opponent maybe about to finish, then the opponent does not take the finish. I sit watching thinking if only you had scored well with the third dart you would have had a chance now!

Excellent advice Larry. My teammates are guilty of this and it always disappoints me. I also find it a little disrespectful. First to your teammates-to who you owe max effort-and second to your opponent-to whom you owe your best shot. You aren't always going to play your best, but you should always give your opponent the best game you can muster. Throwing darts away says you don't care about the game and dismisses me and my efforts to beat you. I want everyone I play to want/try to beat me and I want everyone I play to know I want to beat them and will try to do so until they beat me first.

So very true. You NEVER know when the person you're playing will go cold and start missing. I've seen it happen SO many times. One player will pretty much give up and not try and the other player goes cold. So never toss a dart away in frustration. Not only is it poor sportsmanship, but you never know when the game will really be over. I've had some crazy come from behind matches where I never gave up. Had I tossed lazy darts and gave up I would of never won. Don't let a miss on the 1st dart bum you out. Hit trips with the 2nd and 3rd dart. That's what is great about this game.... ya just never know.

There's a "legendary" game from several years ago that my team references when things look bleak. A guy I played with then was in a 301DIDO game and still hadn't doubled in by the time his opponent had a score of 3 left. My teammate finally got in and slowly whittled his score down while the other guy couldn't get out. My teammate eventually won the game. 301 to 3 and he still won, so anything is possible!
