I just focus on the target. I bring the dart up to me right eye and look, or focus just on the target.

i dont aim or at least i dont hold the dart up to aim prior to throwing. i know where i want the dart to go, stare it down and start the throw from the dog hand. i use more of a peripheral reference point kinda thing to aim it.

i'll try my best to explain it so bear with me and feel free to ask questions if my explanation is confusing.
the "spot"- this is where i find my target and what i see, for example if i'm aiming at treble 20, i see red or whats left of it. i dont focus so hard as to see a specific point inside the treble ( previous hole mark) i look at whats open and aim for center mass. if have have 2 darts landed in the right side of the treble, i will see the red thats left and aim for the center of that.

the "rebound" - the point where the backswing changes into a forward motion. i know theres a proper physics term for this but i can't recall it and am too lazy to google it right now so rebound will do. This is the first phase of the throw where my alignment begins. and its solely for vertical plane guidance. the rebound must occur directly underneath my right eye for the shot to be true. if my rebound doesn't feel aligned i will proceed with my regular throwing motion but will not release the dart and start again from the beginning.

the "front sight" - this is the most important part of my aiming procedure. The front sight is a term i use to describe the point just prior to release-split second. anyone that has been in the military, or done any type of hunting or competitive shooting knows how important it is to focus on the front sight of the gun rather than what your shooting at. I carried this philosophy into darts as well. the target becomes peripheral.
basically how i do it is this- my hand travels in a straight vertical plane from the rebound towards the target or spot. from my perspective, my hand holding the dart looks like the letter D as it moves away from my eye toward the target. my aim iis to get the upper left corner of that D locked into where i want the dart to go.

i will say this also...and forgive the terminology--i only use this process for windage..i use pure "feel" for elevation and finesse.

I am still playing around with the aim or dont aim process.

I used to aim with the point of the dart, but I would bring the dart very close to my face and with the point up and the flight down, and line the point up with the target.

Lately I have been holding the dart more parallel to the ground and starting with my forearm vertical and about 12 inches in front of my face, but not actually aiming the dart and just focussing where I want it to go. I seem to be getting some success with this method and am amazed sometimes when the darts hits the target bang on even though I'm not aiming with the dart. I think I'm slowly building my eye hand co-ordination this way.

However I did a little experiment with my start position the other day, I started my throw below my chin and towards my right shoulder, I had a few throws at the treble 20 and hit it a few times, the other times it went a little low and to the right.

Not really sure what that little experiment tells me other than maybe we dont need to aim at all as long as your follow through and focus is at the target maybe thats all is needed.

But Taylor says he sights along the barrel of the dart like the barrel of a gun, so maybe its just a case of throwing the dart along that imaginary line from the eye to the target, how you do that is probably the key to been a good player.

Am focusing more with better results

I get a long piece of string then attach one end to the T20 and the other end to my dart, then I line up my shot and throw along the string, but usually the string snaps, or I pull the board off the wall, or worse I throw the dart into my foot!
