| Hello All
Does anyone know if it's within the rules of darts to hold FOUR darts in your hand whilst playing a match.
It's something I do when practicing... only throwing three of course, but having one held back in the non throwing hand.
I've noticed most pub league players rushing their last dart, setting off to pull them out before even releasing the last one.
This strange habit has made me concentrate more on my last dart, improving my game considerably.
I'd be interested to hear what you think?
Cheers

| I can't see a problem with holding whatever you want in the hand as long as you only throw three darts.
Why not try holding a stick of chalk or something instead though |

| Not sure of PDC and BDO rules. I personally wouldn't care if you held eight darts. As long as only three are being thrown. |

| An unusual question but not sure of any rules holding 4 darts only that you can throw 3, if there is no specific rule about holding 4 darts then I dont see a problem with it. |

| like mc said, i hold my chalker in my dog hand but thats mainly cause im too lazy to fiddle with it in my pocket every time i need to chalk. as for a 4th dart, never heard of it. might get some weird looks but i can't see anything wrong with it. |

| I cant see anything wrong with it myself, Im not sure as to whether theres anything in the rules or not, but as long as you're not throwing four darts I cant see that it would be a problem |

| A guy I throw league with does this, but he has 2 darts each from completely different sets (one brass!). He doesn't really have a pattern or even throw the same 3 each time and still out averages me. It's very depressing. |

Its funny because I was thinking before if I should use different darts for different areas of the board, I noticed one set I was good at doubles with but hopeless on trebles and vice versa, I wonder if you would be allowed to switch sets in the same leg? |

I know we should get used to throwing well all round the board with one set, but after trying so many I have noticed some I hit better on doubles than trebles, strange but then so am I |

| Much like everyone else has stated I am unfamiliar with there being a rule. I know for a fact that it states you are only allowed to throw three darts per turn. I see no reason why you shouldn't be allowed to hold four darts. You most certainly will probably receive strange looks though |
