Haven't thrown any darts since Tuesday due to a dodgy back - put some soft tips on my Ronnie Baxter barrels and just hit the following - no 17 of all time:
I really need a proper soft tip board, but I like the way the points work on normal boards (although I don't think I'll use these in my match on Monday if selected). The back is starting to hurt a little again as well now lol.

It's got to be said these soft tips do help the darts bend out of the way. If I was using normal steel points I doubt very much whether the second dart would have gone in let alone the third.

Looks that way. I remember my 1st 6 mark on the bull but can't remember my 1st 180.
The bulls is much harder imo.

Thanks! is there any way to "tighten" the bristle on the boards? most numbers are ok, but the bull is like mush.

You could put water in a spray bottle and spray the bull a couple times. The water causes the bristles to swell a bit.
I would give it a try on your board. What's the worst that could happen?

Since you're in the USA I'd say go with the Blade 4 from Wal-Mart.

I remember my 1st 180 like it was 5 mins ago. It was on an old paper board, I was using brass bombers as I had only been playing a few months. I even put a texta mark in the t20 where each of the 3 darts had hit.

Ya i started playing closer to the end of august. By no means "great" but fell like im pretty good for a beginner.
