Hmm, I actually do this slightly, especially with the last dart. Didn't think this was such a bad thing as I keep the rest of my body fairly still.

i do it. my buddy does it and is by far the best player i've had the courtesy of playing. he threw a 161 out against me on sunday, so it doesn't seem to hinder him. i've also seen him throw back to back 180s and 170 outs.

Technically speaking the only part of your body that should move when throwing darts is your arm ! But that doesnt very often happen !

Does Taylor Bristow or Lowe , Consistency cant help but suffer surely ! Less moving parts , Less to go wrong imo

There's a difference between lifting your back foot as you throw, an additional movement and having your heel off the ground throughout the throw as part of you stance. The pro's that do it don't lean forward and lift the heel as they throw they stand with it raised as part of their stance and then only move their arm.

I think Suljovic lifts his leg as he throws, which is not good I dont think:

he never will win a pdc major in my opinion. He throws at a high level but in long run hes gonna lose my opinion only. nice post Grip

I could stand on one leg and still win over you Larry ;) ;) ;)
Nah, but I feel if you lift the foot in the action of the throw your balance would be changing, So I feel like that its better to either stand on both feet while you throw, or stand with one of the feet lifted through the whole throw.
Cheers!

In many sports you're moving when ya throw, hit, kick etc and with practise the pros can hit the line so to speak, but "most" sports you have a bigger target then our beloved bristle and winning a leg requires a much higher percentage of "scoring" then those other sports.
Having played most sports and been a Tennis instructor and Hockey shooting coach I can attest that accuracy is increased when striking when stationary, if only for that milisecond of contact, and for myself, carries over to throwing my darts.
I've not studied or seen enough pro darters to assess lifting the back foot but for myself I can't do it consistently in the same way to be accurate & yet many of the seniors I play with would be hard pressed to get the dart to the board without that extra thrust. As you can imagine it is with a mixed result and the best of the lot are good at times, really good sometimes, but for the most part inconsistent. They aren't pros but for the ones that are and have a degree of success doing this I say all the power to them but I'd wager that with physical aging they'll be hard pressed in maintaining that consistency in their movement.

I think the idea is to eliminate extraneous (ooo big word!) movement as much as possible, but if its how someone has got used to throwing the dart then its a hard habit to break.
