Thanks for sharing this, an interesting read and to many people not surprising.
I don't think there is a huge gap between the elite BDO players and those competing in the PDC, after all it is a bloke with 3 darts against a bloke with 3 darts.
Those that have come over recently, most notable Simon Whitlock have settled and are regularly competing on the Pro Tour, whereby some such as Klaasen (BDO Champ) have not settled as well as they would have liked but are still competing regularly on the floor events.
But the big picture states, aside from the elite (Taylor and Lewis) many ex BDO players and PDC players are competing at a similar level (Whitlock, Anderson, Wade, Barney) just below the cream of the crop and are all more than capable of reaching the top as Gary Anderson showed when he won last years Premier League.
At any given time, when Taylor's game drops off any player from a dozen or more can step up to the plate and take the titles, just as likley those that came through the BDO route - just look at Scott Waites, a runner up and a champion at the Grand Slam back to back years.
Just my opinion, many may disagree, but I would say the difference in skill is not massive (BDO vs PDC) but the difference in TV coverage, money and funding will cripple the BDO long before lack of talent does.
