A Game of two Halves!! Empty
PostSubject: A Game of two Halves!!   A Game of two Halves!! EmptyFri May 18, 2012 1:05 pm

No, I'm not talking about football. I'm talking about my Premier League match tonight.

I was pitted against a lady called Chrissie Kinnard who belongs to the Womens County Team in these here parts and a very good player. Unfortunately, she hit the ground running whilst I was still getting out of bed!! She was hitting the scores and taking no prisoners on the doubles and I soon found myself 5-0 down. I was stood there talking myself and telling myself that I'd better get a foothold in the game and quick as I didn't want to get an 8-0 drubbing.

The 6th Leg (last one before the mid-session interval) I finally found some form and worked my way to 32 left whilst Chrissie had left 40. She was first up and hit S20 followed by D6, so D4 left and in it went!! Gutted and thinking, "Shit, 6-0 down!!". She goes to retrieve her darts and says, "No, it's not in". Wow, if she'd said it was I would have given it her it was that close. Anyway, up I step, 1 dart D16 and thank the lord I have at least avoided the whitewash.

During the interval I stay at the board and get my arm turning over whilst Chrissie goes for a cigarette. On resumption I'm in the zone now and start with a solid ton followed by a 140 and end up with a 102 checkout (T20, S6, D18 ) and a 15 darter to add another Leg to my name. Chrissie takes the next one though and I'm staring at 6-2.

I then start throwing 140's and Tons and quickly pull it back to 6-6 with some very nice checkouts along the way - 72, 90, 70. It's me to throw in the next one and I'm thinking to myself, "I can Win this now" and proceed to throw the worst game of the night!! Fortunately, Chrissie does the same and somehow I snatch it with another D16. That's a point at least secured for me.

Onto the last Leg and Chrissie's throwing first, but I start with a Ton again and follow this with an 83, 92 and a 120 to set myself up with a 106 finish left. Chrissie's throwing just as well and after 15 darts she has 81 left. Up I step and hit S20, I follow it with a T18 and then the D16 smack bang in the middle of the bed for my 2nd 15 darter of the night and my 2nd Ton finish of the night and I take the Win 8-6.

Thing is I think I was more exhausted afterwards rather than pleased with it. Chrissie was absolutely gutted and did say that my comeback was really good, but that she'd still expected to Win at 5-0 and 6-2.

verall, thoroughly enjoyed my nights darting experience and really happy with my form once I'd got going.
