Well, saying I’m new to the site I thought i would give a bit of a background into my darting “career” so far and give people a bit of an insight into how I ended up here.
I first started playing about 2 years ago with a friend. At this stage I enjoyed watching darts but hadn’t been bitten by the bug. I had got myself a board up in the house but the only time I ever really threw was when I was having a carry out with a few mates before we went out. This gradually changed as me and my friend got more and more hooked. We managed to secure a room in a local venue where my mate works and refurbished it and added a bar and a board.

We run tournaments amongst our group of friends and started to notice improvements in our play so we had the idea of starting a team and entering our local league but we struggled with getting numbers on a weekly basis so that was the end of that idea. Because of this me and my friend who set up our club joined our local pub team that had been struggling in the local league and struggling for players.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This season in the league we have improved from 11th up to 5th out of 12 and most notably I have seen my standard improve and continue to do so. The match play has made a bigger difference than I ever thought it would. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a lot further to go and need to keep working to keep improving but I’m very happy with how I’m getting on. In the league I have lost matches I shouldn’t have and won matches I really shouldn’t have but it all goes down as good experience. And overall I have won more than I lost so I really can’t complain. It’s hard to get a real average as each match is different and I don’t really keep track. I suppose it’s around 55-65 in a match situation but can go higher and unfortunately lower.
This Friday finishes my first season with the team as we play our middle four competition and try to get our hands on some silverware. Looking forward to the matches as we really have a good chance of winning, sure it’s not the top four, but it’s a major improvement and great building block for next season. I’ll be able to give more regular updates in the correct section when the next season starts.
But anyway, I think you’ll agree that’s enough from me for now. Any comments welcome and please feel free to share your own stories as they would probably be more interesting than mine.lol.
