| I think its only necessary if they are a git greasy and gungy. The best way is with some warm soapy water, but not hot as it may make the paint come off if you have painted barrels.
How often really depends on how dirty they are and how sweaty/greasy your hands are too.
It certainly wont hurt to keep them nice and clean and will probably help with your grip too. |

| I clean mine every week and easiest way to do it is use acetone (nail varnish remover) in a sealed container (or else it will evapourate) with you darts in it overnight...then a clean with a cloth or toothbrush in the morning. Fairy liquid does ok to, but not as good as acetone. Stick them in the dishwasher once in a while too....that works a treat.
When you think about it, it makes sense. If you dart is greasy the grip between your fingers and the dart is compromised...much like a tyre on a car and the road....you know what happens, you only have to be a mm out for a poor score. Washing darts is essential in my opinion |

| Acetone will work perfectly, but no good if you have painted barrels and wish to keep the paint as it will melt the paint off. |

| I use warm soapy water and a brush. I use rosin so my grips get gunked up pretty quickly. |

I fully submerge mine and leave them overnight....good clean with a cloth or brush in the morning, but listen to grip....I never even thought about the paint coming off....but as I said I use natural colour darts......even 30 mins would be enough in acetone. |

| I agree grip..... acetone evapourates quickly (if leaving overnight you must cover it with clingfilm..... so it isn't an issue |

| I use boiling water once a month, otherwise its just warm water and soap I usually have antibacterial wipes with me out on tournaments to wipe the darts between games, or if a other player have touched my darts :P A little loss of grip could mean the difference between winning and losing :O |

| Also be careful with black points, you will end up taking the black coating off as it comes away very easily (I have used Cilit Bang before now).
I think anti-bacterial wipes may be the way for me from now, seems a simple yet effective way of getting rid of grease without doing any damage to coatings.
Thanks for the tip! |

| The Sabotage really got grimy quickly so I washed them a few times. The Barney's don't seem to accumulate as much muck so I haven't yet, but probably will soon. Of course it's not the dirt I'm worried about. It's the nasty stuff I'm sure is getting all over them from the bars I play in. Not exactly the Lakeside if you get my drift. |

Haha, know exactly what you mean there Chalk Always used hot soapy water or spray cleaner the wife uses to clean the table etc, but since reading someone used anti bacterial wipes I stocked up on them and thats all I use now, really handy and leaves them gleaming. |

| I did have a small issue with cleaning my Triple B's, some of the wipe caught the tiny chips in the ghost grip but soon comes off. As for the bleach in the wipes, I don't think it would do any damage to your dart at all long term, what would is the acids and grease picked up from your fingers.
Maybe other members know about the bleach and if indeed it would do any damage long term?
Cheers, Greg |

| From what I've read elsewhere, I think if you leave darts soaking in bleach then the paint can be removed but I doubt using anti-bacterial wipes have enough bleach in them to cause any damage. Might have to give them ago on a few of my sets. I'll report back in the other thread. |
