Us swappers must have all had the feeling of regret at letting a set go or maybe like me, you had a near miss whereby you almost let a set go that upon reflection you were glad you kept hold of.
First up, I swapped a set of Whitlock's for a set of Barney Machina's I was told were in near mint condition. When I got them through they were battered. The photo I was shown had them in really good condition, probably taken when they were a few days old. Put me off Machina darts for life, and lost a nice set of Whitlock's in the process - I was gutted!
The near miss, well, just after the 1996 BDO WC final that Steve Beaton won, incidentally my favorite player, I was lucky enough to get a set from Steve Beaton himself (unfortunatley not the ones he won the title with
). They are the B&W set with black and red rings.
Well roll on 14 years later and I am having a clear out and not thinking stick them up for swap, got offered a set of Merv Kings for them and was within pressing the return key of accepting. Something clicked in my head and I quite rightly decided to keep them along with the signed case and photo Steve gave me.
To add to my euphoria, upon checking found out the Merv Kings were copies and not even the endorsed version - bloody crooks!

Anyone else swapped and wished they hadn't or nearly swapped and glad they didn't?
