I have had my Carrera's now for a couple of months and I am finding that the grip is not as good as the day I got them, now I know that any grip will wear over time but I feel that these have worn extra quickly. I do practice for 2 hours a day and play competitively 3 times a week but to combat this I have 2 sets that I rotate regularly. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me. I am going to talk to Target and ask them what they think and will post their comments at a later date. I am however interested in anyone else's thoughts whilst awaiting Targets response.

I never had my set long enough really, but has it worn so much that it no longer feels grippy or it has just lessened?

Well i'm glad you asked me that as I also bought a 3rd set in 24g hence my wanting your 24g set to make it so I had 2 sets of each weight but I preferred the 22g so my 24g have just been sitting in their box. I just did a test with the wife and asked her whilst she had her eyes shut which set of darts had the better or most grip and she chose the 24g set that have not been used. So I suppose this proves the point that it is not just me getting used to them. I am so disappointed with these darts as they were billed as the next big thing in grip technology and for me they are the next big flop.

Well I understand that all grips wear eventually, but sounds like your describing more wear than was expected really.

They should sponsor you Big Gun, and provide darts at your leisure

Yep same for me Big Gun,but sometimes they slip out in my hand,but atleast im throwing better with thoose darts so i cant complain :P,yesterday a 15 darter so ahha

Something that I've never tried myself, but I've heard some people say (albeit not specific to Carreras), that cleaning your darts on a regular basis can made a lot of difference. Apparently dirt, oil residues etc can all make the dart feel less grippy and a quick wash with warm soapy water can bring them back to life.

This is probably something that you have already tried, but if not might be worth a shot. As I said though, I have never cleaned my darts on a regular basis, so its not technically my advice, but there may be some mileage in it!

Thanks for the comments guys I have with older darts used Acetone then warm soapy water to remove dirt & grease but these are barely 3 months old. The problems I have are that I have a very light grip so I need an aggressive grip pattern on my darts so I can feel it and so it doesn't slip as I throw. These provided that at the start but now it's like coming in from the cold and throwing darts you know how that feels when you can't feel your darts properly so you aren't in control of it, thats how they feel now. I also have a smooth throwing style a bit like Barney's with the darts sticking in the board at 30 degree angles as i'm a flighter and I throw up and down rather than straight at the treble if that makes sense (my darts fly in an arc shape and are on the way downwards when they hit the board). I have always used Purists as they have the best grip but due to their recent products not meeting my expectations which is the politest way I can describe their equipment I have boycotted Unicorn but it would seem to my demise as they once modified were my perfect darts. Oh why do I have to be a man of morals and principles!! Anyway Target have asked for some pics which I have sent this morning but I doubt they will see much from that as it's a feel thing not so much a problem you can see, but we will see what they say. I will keep you all informed and the sponsoring me would be great Nucky but somehow I can't see that happening although The Darts Performance Centre have a few ideas up their sleeves for me this year so we will have to wait and see.

Hey gun if you like a 22g straight barrel dart with an aggressive grip you should check out the Target 22g Perfect storms - the straight barrel one. I have a set and they have held their grip very well. I have a set of Carreras and I can see how that grip will smooth over quickly, I have barely thrown them though and they probably won't ever get much use.

Having owned 100's of sets of darts, I'd really just say it's just general wear.

When any metal is first cut it will have a 'sharp' edge or feel to it, after constant smashing into each other it will dull it down, especially as those grove/cuts are tiny.

If it's grip you want, have you tried those skin rippers ?!?, insane amount of grip on them.
With out a doubt the grippyist darts I've ever thrown.

I played with them for a week, I actually found them too grippy for me.

I agree with big gun....mine too feel a little less grippy......but I found that it is just the oils from your hand making them smooth......I found taking a scent free hand wipe and cleaning the barrel and your hand helps...IMO!!!!!

I can understand that the barrel will wear, but after 3 months of use and being branded the 'new pixel grip technology that creates an outstanding grip that you can trust' they should last a bit longer don't you think. Maybe it then should say but only for a few months as it then wears away at the end of that statement. I have been around long enough to know when something is just general wear & tear and this is poor by any standard. My Purists have lost their sharpness a little but they still have a good grip to them after 3 years as do many ring gripped darts but these Carrera's rely on the Pixels (holes) as the main part of the gripping system so without them what have I got left just a hole with a very shallow ring. To some that grip their darts with a lot of pressure they may still suffice but as I said I have a very light grip so I need an aggressive grip on my darts. As I said I will see what happens with Target before I launch a full blown assault as they may well put this right for me. I hope so as I feel as a dart they are very nice but they need a rethink on that grip IMO.
