Now what kind of wood would you be using in Georgia? I stole mine from the scrap bin at work, they are made of maple.

I'm making it out of pine I get from my work. I want to do some in another type of wood but what I have is free so I've been trying some different things. I'm making one that hangs on the wall now

I like the look of those dart holders but would hate to get home from work to find the wife had put the blinds down and knocked it off the window cill and all my points or stems were snapped off. All my spare darts are either in cases or a little box in my drawer nice and flat. So I'm on the fence and would need more concincing about dart holders so please feel free to convince me they are a good idea cos I need a good debate.

Thanks guys

Caution, these are only for fickle shooters who switch from set to set constantly and never put them in their proper cases cry laugh cry laugh

I find it pretty handy though, darts set up and ready to go, waiting for me.

Proto type that will prob never see pase 2. The timber needs to be a little wider but I just got away with it.
The darts that you see in it are placed in every second space.
The first photo is a side veiw and the next are more front on. You can see the extra holes for more darts.

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who has that many different darts on display let alone to use? ha ha ha you can blame Nuckers for this as he told me to say it as it is lol

What is the matter with you people do you actually play darts or just sit and polish your points? by the time you choose what set your going to use I will have done an hours practice ha ha ha ha ha I can see the point in a couple of sets but how are you going to get any consistency when you chop and change every time you have a throw? You guys are some crazy dudes I bet your all late for work every day as you cant decide what top to wear with what trousers lol.

Only kidding cos you know I love you all really but I will stick to my theory that have some of you have got O.C.D (Obsessive Compulsive Dissorder) So do you have them all laid out in styles and size or favourite to least favourite or best game to worst game order, how do you decide which set is at the front? I am naturally intrigued by this so please tell me more.

So the real question is, does playing make you obsessive compulsive or do you need to have it to start playing? I've often wondered that lol! And as to the second part of your question...trousers? What trousers? lol on floor lol on floor lol on floor

@ big G:
You need to know more ey? That is O.C.D in all its glory lol on floor
They are not all mine some are the kids one the wife and a few variations of different styles that I have tried over the last year looking for the dart that suits my style of throw (weight / profile) that are now soley for visitors. And through this experimentation I have nearly cracked it with the unicorn T90 25g It is my weight and the slightly rear loaded profile alows me to use a longer stem with a biger flight to correct my yucky flight path. Prior to using this T90 my dart would droop alot so toploaded darts and big flights were out for me. Although I have only had 8 throws with my new T90's as they just arrived today I already know I am on the right track because of the 180 lol on floor

Any way I think that if you are fairly new at the game the first year or so should be spent looking for the right dart for yourself then you can stick with it rather than sticking with something that doesnt suite your throw. After all perfection is the key to the game.

O.C.D. off

I am with you on the experimenting part Dirty but when you realise they don't work for you why do you put them on display to remind yourself of your past failures. Sell them or as I do give them away to someone who likes or wants them. I get a new set of darts I play with them for a week they work or they dont I keep them or I dont it is that simple. When I keep them I play with them and only them when my form takes a nose dive I might have a tinker with stems or flights or dig out an old set I have stored away in the garage and have a few throws if they don't feel right I would consider a new set. When I find a set I like I normally but 2 sets the same as I like to have a spare and I sometime practice with 6 darts as part of my routine. I am a dart player not a collector, generally the darts I use will be the darts I play with for ever. My Purists were so near perfect but after I modified them they were perfect, but then a huge fall out with Unicorn made me not want to use their products any longer but they are still in the garage as I know they work for me and I can go back to them should I need to but they wont be on display for me to keep using or for everyone else to see or use. 1 set is used (or in my case 2 sets the same) and they are my darts simple, if you come to my room to play you bring your own darts. For me darts are as personal as your relationships and I wouldn't flirt my new girlfriend in front of my wife so why do it with your darts, they are an extension of who you are and the emotions you have gone through as a player. I love my wife and I love my darts and both deserve respect and you guys need to learn that with all your loose women and loose darts all over every part of the house and town. Floozies the lot of you ha ha ha. I am a 1 woman 1 dart set kinda guy and thats why I'm a winner it's that simple. lol I an funny as well especially when I write on here ha ha
If any of you need a counsellor please PM me and we can sort out some special rates for DartsNutters ha ha Told you I wanted a good debate

No counsellor needed, the system works, I put them back the kids put them back my wife puts them back my friends and visitors have got a choice of weights and shapes every one is happy expecialy me. As for selling them or giving them away, most of them are that cheap you couldnt swap them for a packet of cigaretts and if any of my friends want some darts they can tinker with mine for a while till they find somthing they like then they can bye a decent set of their own.
I do agree on your one woman thingy though. Why go too the shop for milk when you have a cow at home I always say.
Yes I do like your sence of humor but your weekly challenge is not funny at all Laughing , I did have 1 attempt but I got side traked by staring and caressing my pretty dart holder http://i111.photobuc

PostSubject: Re: Dart Holders   Dart Holders EmptyFri Dec 07, 2012 5:13 am

I hear you Big Gun - I was using a set of Hammerhead Gorilla Grip darts for a few years and all of a sudden, I couldn't do anything with them at all. I'd say that might be where the insanity started for me (5-6 years ago maybe).

I would be too frightened to look at my order history from Paypal because I've ordered at least 5 sets of darts per year over the past five or so years. I just can't seem to get one particular dart that I can get consistent with. Either they are too long, too short, too front heavy, not enough grip....etc etc. Also, it is so easy to order from the internet and compared to prices locally, how can you not buy online? All you have to do is click send Very Happy

MY other problem is that when I do get used to a set, what happens with them in league play is completely different than in the BDL (bedroom dart league). On Sunday, I warmed up a bit, got fairly consistent, hit a T40 and thought "OK, I'm ready". I then went to the match and was so horrible it wasn't funny (alcohol cold be a factor here, who knows?).

I have a set of 23 gram Penetrators that I originally thought were a tad heavy but am starting to get used to them - hit a 180 and then went around the board practicing doubles. I finished on the bull with green, red red - so maybe there is hope for me yet. I spend so much time on my board though, I have to learn to differentiate from throwing darts useful practice. Maybe I need more discipline in this department. I probably spend too much time aiming for the triple 20 than doing drills etc.

As far as having so many sets - they way I look at it - I am a pub player and will never make it to the Ally Pally but I spend too many hours at my oche not to be shooting better than I am. So if I have to keep wasting money until I can get my game to where I think it should be, I'm not going to stop! Also, I think I fall into the category of impulse buyer (especially where new darts from manufacturers is concerned).

That being said, when I get "THE" set, I plan on doing the same as you, getting a second set and getting rid of the ones I don't use. Some days, I feel like taking all the darts and paraphernalia I don't use and locking it up where I can't get at it. It might just happen yet.

Rant off Very Happy
