Just noticing that there are lots of Cannucks on here......I guessing darts is bigger in Canada than it is in the USA.....because of part perhaps????

Had a Canadian friend of mine from Ontario stay with us in summer...he loved Shetland, but incredibly proud of Canada....I like that!!

i don't think its because of part. my dad has no idea who part is or what hes done, but my dad does know who barney and taylor are (but thats it). even in my league, no one really talks about pro darts or even bothers to watch the big tournaments, beside myself and the president of the league. although part is a popular player to people who already play darts, but i don't think anyone would recognize him/know who he was if they weren't already a dart player. its not a spectator sport here as much as in the UK

i think darts has some popularity to it because of our legions. nearly every small community has their own legion branch and most of them have had dartboards/leagues since after the war. my grandparents played legion darts for years in the late 60s, early 70s. even my legion for a community of around a thousand has about 20 dart boards set up and from what i've seen its the same at most of the legions i've been to in the area. even a legion 20 km down the road has quite a few boards but no league. a lot of legions serve as the only bar/pub in rural areas too.

my brother picked up playing darts at a legion in the states (he goes to school there) and i picked it up through him and now i play at a canadian legion. but at the legion he played in, there was only 1 board and on league nights they had to set up their own boards in the kitchen beforehand. they ended up leaving their legion because it was managed quite poorly and they moved to a tavern instead. whereas at our legion, they love having us there.

yeah its actually pretty interesting. there is a strong darts community here too. when we go to regionals (usually our entire A division goes) its always the same people and you usually dont get to see too many new faces. for a population of roughly 158,000 people (in our "region"), about 50 men and women show up for darts ontario qualifying. but there is a much bigger number of recreational players.

Count me in as well as a proud Canadian!!! I'm in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia only a few hours from both of them Smile Darts is very popular here as well - my town is hosting the regional and provincial play downs this year. Our population might be around 7000 and there are leagues going 7 nights a week. I've been playing for around 15 years (at least) and in leagues for about 11. Isn't it the greatest game in the world?? I feel that once you play in leagues with people its as if you become friends for life!

So true about becoming friends for life.

I'm guessing England is where most members are from, followed by Scotland or Canada.....USA last

I like the look of those chips - glad I've just had my bowl of cereal or I'd feel hungry lol. What's on them?

Also, never seen bagged milk before - wouldn't it be better in something a bit more solid like a bottle or carton?

haha poutine is fries with cheese curds and gravy. very canadian

as for milk in bags, i have no idea why it comes in bags. but it has for as long as i can remember. we do sell it in jugs and cartons but bags seems to be the most popular haha.
