My Practice Session Diary Empty
PostSubject: My Practice Session Diary   My Practice Session Diary EmptyMon Jan 16, 2012 4:40 am

As from tomorrow i will be stepping up to a regular practice routine , At one time in my life i was a pretty handy player but 20 years out of the game has taken its toll as you would expect .
I have some routines from George at flight school which will be a major part of my routine as well as other routines i have outlined elsewhere in this section .
I intend to practice for at least 4 hrs a day but this is subject to family life etc , I will be honest in my posts regarding how things are going and how i feel about my progress and i welcome your observations and comments !

Thats a great idea Andy!

I was thinking of doing a similar thing, but the way I pick up injuries it will be boring reading "today I rested" again lol.

Been on the practice board for a while and i think im finally getting my old rhythm back ! Throwing the dart just seems so effortless raise point throw simples Very Happy Hitting the skinny doubles on the practice board on a regular basis or close at least , I have at last got a bit of confidence in my throw so practice will be pretty full on now ! Will do the flight school routine if i get a chance later , My darts are hitting the board straight and with a bit of conviction at last ,

PostSubject: Re: My Practice Session Diary   My Practice Session Diary EmptyTue Jan 31, 2012 3:30 am

Well it would appear i had spoken too soon ! Last Tuesday night at a league game my game fell apart big style ! So its been back to the drawing board all week and it seems like a bit of progress has been made , Been playing level 4 on the no1 dartscorer and have averaged 67.4 but thats at home on the practice board and Tuesday nights are a whole new ball game , Im going to try again tomorrow and see how it goes then and compare the averages but the real test will come tomorrow night ! Last tuesday while on the way back from the game there was a skip on the side of the road and i said to the wife " should just throw my darts in there " to which she replied " dont be stupid " my answer to that was " if i tried to throw my darts in the skip i would probably miss !" , That gives you an idea of how i was feeling ! The stupid thing is after the game i stayed on the board for a while and one of the opposition team commented " why the hell didnt you play like that in the game ?" , I just smiled and thought , YEAH I KEEP ASKING MYSELF THAT !!!!

Andy, we have a lot in common - consistent on the practice board but not in a real game.
Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it to practice? My wife only throws darts in the league and has been at the tops of the standings since she started playing. Not sure what the answer is.
If you figure it, please let me know. Please!

I know what the answer is mate , STOP TRYING SO HARD ! But unfortunately i havent got a cure for that yet , Maybe just time i really dont know . I dont loose many games but thats only because for some stupid reason i dont miss doubles very often which is strange as i rarely practice them Very Happy

I think most people are the same - great in practise and not so in matches - I know I am lol. I hit loads of 180's and high finishes etc in practise but in proper matches I think my highest finish is around 75 (normally only 40 or less lol) and I'm yet to hit a max.
